Willow Creek Community Church

Campus Pastor

South Barrington,
Illinois
South Barrington is a suburban community about 30 miles northwest of downtown Chicago. Families enjoy safe neighborhoods, excellent schools, and a balance of small-town feel with easy access to city amenities. The area is marked by connected suburbs, a mix of shopping districts, restaurants, and recreational spaces. The Midwest vibe is friendly, stable, and family-oriented. A family of four can typically find a 2,000–2,300 square foot home (plus basement) in the $450,000–$500,000 range. While historically blue-collar, the region is also home to major corporations, creating a unique blend of hard-working roots and professional opportunity.

Why I Love This Opportunity

Willow Creek Community Church is seeking a high-capacity leader to serve as Campus Pastor of its flagship South Barrington campus, a vibrant congregation of 6,200 with key ministries including Willow Español, Willow Friends, and the Care Center. Overseeing 50+ staff, this leader will set the spiritual and cultural tone of the campus, host weekend services, preach several times per year, and shape Willow’s broader strategy as part of the senior leadership team.

The ideal candidate is a spiritually grounded, relationally wise, and organizationally strong leader with experience in a large, multi-staff, multi-site church who can navigate complexity, rebuild trust, and inspire growth in a new season of vision and momentum.

Location

“My family and I love living in Chicago! We were surprised by how it gives us the best of both worlds—on one side, we have the stunning lakefront where the city skyline sparkles over the water, offering endless walks, bike rides, and summer beach days. On the other side, just a short drive away, we can escape into charming river towns and quiet suburbs that feel like a peaceful retreat. It’s a place where we feel we can get big city excitement and small town comfort. Plus, having all four seasons has been surprisingly special, even winter.”
