Staff Culture
- Community outreach, we are known as the church that says “yes” when asked to host events, weddings, and funerals. Our Trunk or Treat is the largest event in the High Desert for the year. We have won awards and have been recognized by the City of Hesperia and the Greater High Desert Chamber of Commerce for our community outreach and development.
- Currently running around 450 in weekly in-person attendance, VVCC is a church in motion — committed to serving the community, preaching the gospel, and equipping the people in its seats to do the same.
- We are 60% hispanic, 30% white, 10% other. The average age is mid-30s. We have a congregation with diverse church backgrounds, with mostly former Catholics and non-churched adults.
- The executive pastor and worship director report directly to the senior pastor. The community pastor, kids pastor, and office manager report to the executive pastor.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development:
- Recruit, train, and disciple Kids Ministry leaders and volunteers.
- Build and strengthen teams that foster a safe, fun, and spiritually engaging environment for weekend services and midweek bible studies, events, and programs.
- Invest in teams through regular leadership development and coaching.
Kids Ministry Oversight:
- Provide pastoral oversight and vision for Kids Ministry.
- Ensure the ministry is biblically grounded, fun, and age-appropriate.
- Develop strategic plans for growth, outreach, and midweek programs.
- Build and launch Kids Ministry support for our midweek gatherings, including a kids program for Thursday service and kids ministry for Tuesday night Bible study.
- Recruit and train dedicated volunteer teams for midweek ministry so families can attend and grow together.
- Maintain clear, proactive communication with parents, volunteers and staff.
Transitions & Collaboration:
- Work closely and collaboratively with the Student Pastor to design clear, intentional transitions from Kids Ministry to Student Ministry, including promotion events, communication with parents, and connecting kids with new leaders and peers.
- Meet regularly with the Student Pastor to coordinate on a shared discipleship pathway from childhood through young adulthood, so students and families don’t fall through the gaps.
- Partner with the Student Pastor to prepare 5th graders and their parents for the move into
- Student Ministry, including shared events and opportunities for kids to meet student leaders before they transition.
Family Discipleship:
- Partner with parents and guardians to equip them as the primary spiritual leaders of their homes.
- Create resources, events, and environments that strengthen families and foster discipleship.
- Provide pastoral care, guidance, and support for families as needed.
