For over 50 years, University Covenant Church has served and ministered in Davis, California, a town 15 miles from Sacramento and known for its strong university presence (University of California), cycling, community, parks, the infamous Farmer’s Market, and local and surrounding agriculture. University Covenant Church is a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church. Their vision is “That all people would know Jesus.”
Though a few socio-economic classes make up University Covenant Church, the immediate area is seen as upper middle class to the upper class. Additionally, Davis has been called ‘the most educated city in America’, with UC Davis being a hub of innovation and higher education.
The staff culture at University Covenant Church is a healthy, fun environment where people don’t take themselves too seriously but take God very seriously. Work is accomplished with a focus on grace and excellence. The staff is given much freedom and flexibility as long as they are faithful, productive, and pursuing excellence in all they do.
University Covenant Church is searching for an Executive Pastor of Adult Ministries to serve the church and
help achieve its vision. The ideal candidate has a passion for developing staff teams and lay leaders. The
candidate has a track record of leading leaders, multiplying leaders, and exuding and modeling warmth and
care individually and with teams. He/She has gifts of leadership, strategy, and organizational thinking.
The ideal candidate has a passion for small groups and lay leader development. He/she has a performance
history of developing a healthy and robust small group system in a mid-sized or larger church (500+) and a track record of leading leaders, multiplying leaders, and exuding and modeling warmth and care individually and with teams. He/She has gifts of leadership, strategy, and organizational thinking.
