Sugar Creek Baptist Church

Worship Pastor (Missouri City Campus)

Sugar Land,
Texas
Sugar Creek Baptist Church in Missouri City, TX is seeking a Campus Worship Pastor to lead musical worship and weekend gatherings at their growing Missouri City campus. This person will shepherd and develop worship teams, oversee technical production, and collaborate with a talented global worship leadership team. The ideal candidate is a strong vocalist and platform leader who sees themselves as a pastor and worshiper first—someone who cares deeply about musical excellence while building relationships and discipling others beyond Sunday mornings.

Why I Love This Opportunity

This is a rare opportunity to lead worship in one of the most ethnically diverse counties in America while being part of a healthy, high-functioning staff culture that genuinely enjoys being together. The Missouri City campus is growing, launching an expansion project, and you’ll have the latitude to create a culture of worship while collaborating with a strong global worship team that values creativity, excellence, and authenticity.

A great match for this position would be:

  • A strong vocalist and compelling platform leader who shepherds people, not just performs
  • Someone who values musical excellence but prioritizes pastoral care and relational connection with the congregation
  • A collaborative team player who thrives in a high-trust, low-fear environment and works well across multiple reporting relationships
  • A worship leader with vision beyond Sunday mornings—someone who wants to impact children, students, and adults through holistic worship ministry
  • A person who appreciates diversity and can lead culturally relevant worship without compromising biblical truth
  • Someone comfortable with modern technology (Planning Center, in-ear monitors, LED walls) who can oversee technical teams while staying focused on leading people into authentic worship

About This Organization

Founded in 1975, Sugar Creek Baptist Church has pursued its mission “to love and lead all people to life change in Christ” for 45 years. Under Senior Pastor Mark Hartman’s leadership for the past 22 years, the church has grown from 1,600 to 5,100 in weekly attendance across three campuses, plus a thriving prison ministry. Located in Fort Bend County—the most ethnically diverse county in America—Sugar Creek embraces all people and represents over 90 countries in its membership. The church is known for its missions and care efforts in the community and is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention, though individually governed by its staff and members.

The Missouri City campus is a growing, vibrant community that offers three gathering times each Sunday at 8:00 am, 9:30 am, and 11:00 am. Close to 1,000 adults attend each weekend, and the congregation is extremely diverse ethnically. Most who attend this campus are white-collar professionals who are very family-oriented. The campus sees about 25-30 new guests per month and is currently in the planning phase of an expansion project that will more than double their current space, including a new children’s area, worship center, and outdoor baptistry. The worship team at Missouri City is healthy and executes at a high level, with modern musical style, engaging worship, life-changing teaching, and connection through strong, meaningful relationships. The campus is only minutes from downtown Houston and located close to major freeways, making it easily accessible to the entire metropolitan area.

Whether you’re exploring the Houston Museum of Natural Science, enjoying family time at the Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center, or taking advantage of everything the nation’s 4th largest city has to offer, you’re never far from opportunity and adventure.
