Position Description

This leaders will be expected to administer and develop Kirk Student ministries by providing Christ-centered spiritual direction and appropriate programing for students 6th-12th grade and their families at Kirk of the Hills. This will be done in collaboration with the family ministry team and with direct connection to the rest of the student ministry team.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the ministries for students in grades 6-12, including Wednesday night and Sunday morning programming, special events, retreats, mission trips, outreach activities, and other discipleship opportunities.
  • Serve as the point person for High school ministries and to to lead and care for all of the male students grades 6-12.
  • Collaborate closely with the Student Ministries Associate (point person for middle school / girls ministry) to plan, implement and evaluate the Student Ministry program through regular communication, effective delegation, and positive leadership.
  • Develop and communicate a vision for creating a culture within Student Ministries that aligns with the Kirk of the Hills’ mission, values, and vision.
  • Recruit, equip, and encourage volunteers to lead and teach in Student Ministries programs, small groups, special events, and outreach initiatives.
  • Define the teaching strategy for Student Ministries, including selecting topics, format, and establishing a teaching schedule. Ideally, you will teach approximately half the time, with the other half covered by your teaching team.
  • Maintain regular and consistent communication with students, leaders, and parents to ensure alignment with the ministry’s vision, direction, and upcoming events.Initiate weekly individual and group outreach to students, leaders, and parents through informal meetings (e.g., lunches, attending student events, coffee meetings, etc.) outside of normal programming.
  • Develop and implement an effective strategy for inviting, welcoming, assimilating, tracking, discipleship, and sending students.
