Mission, Vision, and Values
- Springhill Presbyterian Church exists to build authentic community in Christ. The church’s vision is to be a church to call home where relationships flourish, generations connect, and neighbors are loved for the glory of God.
- Springhill’s worship life is deeply connected to that mission. Corporate worship is one of the primary places where the church gathers as a family, hears the Word of God, prays together, sings the Gospel, celebrates the sacraments, and is formed for life and mission.
- Springhill is shaped by a commitment to being a worshipping community, seeing broken people restored by Christ, living out the Word of God, and building intentional relationships that serve others. The Pastor / Director of Worship will help embody these values by creating worship environments that are faithful, participatory, thoughtful, and centered on the glory of God.
Staff Culture
- Springhill’s staff culture is collaborative, relational, pastoral, and mission-focused. The Pastor / Director of Worship will work closely with the Lead Pastor as an extension of the overall worship and preaching ministry of the church. This means worship planning will require trust, communication, creativity, and a shared desire to align every element of the service with the Word proclaimed.
- The right person will thrive in a team environment marked by healthy relationships, mutual respect, and appreciation for the different gifts of staff members and volunteers. Springhill is looking for someone who can bring creative leadership without needing to be the center of attention, and who can contribute ideas while remaining deeply aligned with the church’s broader mission and direction.
- Because Springhill is a multi-site church, this role also requires flexibility, delegation, and leadership development. The Pastor / Director of Worship will need to lead personally, build teams, and empower others to serve effectively across worship environments.
Key Responsibilities
- The Pastor / Director of Worship will prepare weekly worship services in alignment with the preached Word. This includes selecting theologically sound songs, crafting liturgy and prayers, developing creative elements, and ensuring that worship media and visual elements support a clear, distraction-free worship environment.
- This leader will serve as the primary worship leader at the Bozeman Site while developing and delegating leadership at the Legacy Site. They will oversee worship arts volunteers and staff, including vocalists, instrumentalists, audio/visual volunteers, and technical team members. They will coordinate service logistics, lead rehearsals, recruit and equip participants, and encourage lay leaders to serve in ways that reflect the values and strategy of the church.
- The Pastor / Director of Worship will spiritually invest in worship ministry volunteers through prayer, biblical encouragement, discipleship, and pastoral care. They will also lead biannual worship planning retreats with pastors for prayerful and strategic long-range worship planning.
- The role also includes collaboration on funerals, weddings, sacraments, Christmas, Holy Week, VBS, and other special services. As appropriate, this leader may create worship opportunities beyond Sunday morning, including concerts, retreats, events, or other expressions of worship and the arts.
- In addition, the Pastor / Director of Worship will serve as a worship resource for other ministries within the church and community, including children’s choirs, youth ministry bands, and other ministry teams. As able, this leader may also assist the pastoral staff with hospital visitation, funeral facilitation, wedding coordination, discipleship, and other pastoral responsibilities.
Key Qualifications
- The ideal candidate will demonstrate clear alignment with evangelical and Reformed faith and practice and will be comfortable serving within the theological commitments of Springhill Presbyterian Church and the Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
- A degree in music, worship arts, ministry, theology, or a related field is preferred. Springhill also prefers a candidate with at least three years of experience in a worship or musical ministry context. The candidate should bring knowledge of church music history, musical leadership ability, and familiarity with worship planning and presentation tools such as Proclaim, Planning Center, and Music Stand.
- The strongest candidates will be humble, teachable, organized, relational, and spiritually mature. They will love to learn, take initiative, build teams, coach musicians, and lead worship in a way that invites congregational participation rather than passive observation.
- Most importantly, this person should be a worshipper and a shepherd. Springhill is looking for a leader who will nurture their own relationship with God, disciple others, lead the congregation in prayer, communicate the vision of the church, and help build a worship culture rooted in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
