Sevier Heights is an amazing church approaching ministry in Knoxville, TN, freshly and innovatively. Because this church has had such a massive ministry to students at the University of Tennessee, many of the staff and volunteers came to Sevier Heights as students at UT.
Although the church has been around since the 1930s, the church is young and full of energy, focused on making a difference in the community. The right candidate will join a highly engaged team leading an exciting and growing ministry with many opportunities for growth and development!
Sevier Heights has been in the Knoxville community since the 1930s, in its current location since 1999. Tim Miller stepped into the lead pastor role only four years ago, serving in a variety of roles at Sevier Heights for more than 20 years. In the time since Tim Miller has been the lead pastor, he has brought two campuses under one roof, clarified a new vision and mission of the church, and navigated a difficult global pandemic while retaining staff and debt-free financial independence. Sevier Heights is boldly entering a new season with a clear understanding of who they are and what they seek to accomplish. The mission and vision is crystal clear, and the words and phrases on the church walls are also in the people’s hearts. Like all organizations, the pandemic caused changes in staffing, structure, and strategy, but growth in baptisms, giving, attendance, and first-time guests continue to be strong.
The Children’s Minister shapes the way families view church by partnering with parents to help their children become who God has called them to be and helping children establish spiritual foundations that will last a lifetime. This person will join an effective Next Generation team to set a ministry-wide strategy for the church. They will directly lead all ministry to kids, kindergarten through fifth grade, leading through 4+ staff and nearly 70 volunteers.
