Position Description

The Senior Pastor is to provide pastoral oversight and care to the church body; provide organizational vision, leadership, and management to the whole church; serve as the primary teacher and communicator at weekend services.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Help the Elders in fulfilling their role of setting direction for the church, governing and protecting the church, and stewarding the church’s human and financial resources.
  • Ensure that each staff member is properly equipped, empowered, and resourced to do his or her job and be successful.
  • Lead in the development, communication and protection of the church’s vision while providing leadership and supporting the Leadership Team in the development and implementation of the church’s strategic plans.
  • Champion the church’s values and model servant leadership as the “first among equals” with the other leaders.
  • Set the example in ensuring the church is properly fed, led, and cared for, including small group coaching and leadership development.
  • Serve as the primary communicator at weekend services.
  • Ensure the teaching calendar is planned and scheduled in a timely way.
  • Ensure those teaching communicate Biblical Truth, spoken in love.

  • Visionary Leader: casts a compelling vision and leads through transition by inspiring others in a strong sense of ownership for church growth, impact, and engagement with the local community.
  • Collaborator: able to build a culture of collaboration among elders, staff, and volunteer leaders, building trust and unity to more effectively fulfill the church’s vision.
  • Preacher: demonstrates both a gift and passion for living and preaching the Word of God as revealed in the Old and New Testaments in relevant and practical ways.
