About This Organization

What started in the basement of a donut shop, God has blessed and grown into a multisite church of 2000. Legacy is a staff lead, elder protected church with locations around the greater Kansas City metro area. They strive to be a “big church with a small church feel,” where members are truly known, cared for, and encouraged. Legacy currently stands at the threshold of an exciting era of outreach and community engagement throughout Kansas City.

Position Description

The Senior Pastor is to provide pastoral oversight and care to the church body; provide organizational vision, leadership, and management to the whole church; serve as the primary teacher and communicator at weekend services.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Help to ensure that the board is properly fulfilling its role of setting direction for the church, governing and protecting the church, and stewarding the church’s human and financial resources.
  • Ensure that each staff member is properly equipped, empowered, and resourced to do his or her job and be successful.
  • Lead the development, communication and protection of Legacy’s vision.
  • Champion Legacy’s values.
  • Model servant leadership as the “first among equals” with the other pastors and elders.
  • Set the example in ensuring the church is properly fed, led, and cared for, including Community Group coaching and leadership development.
  • Serve as the primary communicator at weekend services – preach 50% – 75% of the time, teach the Word, refute wrong doctrine and equip the church body.
  • Ensure others’ gifts are recognized and that they are equipped to teach and communicate on the teaching team(s) as an intentional part of their professional development and discipleship.

 

What a Strong Candidate Would Look Like:

  • Bachelors degree with additional training focused on biblical theology and Restoration Movement principles.
  • 5-10 years of leadership experience with a multi-site church of 1,500-2,000 or more in onsite attendance (preferred).
  • Is in agreement with the Statement of Faith, Ministry Philosophy, and Mission of Legacy Christian Church.
  • Is a person of integrity who ministry team members can respect and follow and meets the qualifications of elder/overseer (1 Timothy 3 and Titus 3).
  • If married, leads his family well and has a healthy marriage.
  • Is committed to encountering God in personal quiet time and participating in an accountability group.
