The Assistant Pastor of NextGen Ministries at Reynolda Church exists to champion the spiritual development of children, students, and young adults by providing clear vision and leadership for ministries from Early Childhood through Young Adults. This position is responsible for creating, implementing, and overseeing programs that promote discipleship and spiritual growth within each age group, while empowering families to engage in faith formation at home.
The Assistant Pastor will lead the High School and Young Adult ministries at the Village Campus, ensuring alignment with the overall mission of the church, while fostering a unified, multi-generational approach to ministry. This role works collaboratively with the pastoral staff and volunteers to ensure a cohesive ministry strategy that effectively reaches and engages the next generation in their walk with Jesus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pastoral Leadership over NextGen Ministry Department: Provide overall pastoral leadership to the NextGen Ministry team, successfully casting and executing vision, goals, and strategy for all NextGen programs. Shepherd and mentor staff, leaders, and volunteers to foster a Christ-centered culture of spiritual growth and discipleship.
- Strategic Vision and Goal Setting: Participate with the leadership team in clarifying the vision, goals, and strategies for NextGen ministries. Monitor progress towards established goals and adjust plans as needed to ensure alignment with the church’s broader mission.
- Shepherding of NextGen Staff: Lead and provide clear direction to the Next-Gen staff team, ensuring their growth and development in ministry leadership. Supervise the recruitment, training, and evaluation of staff, ensuring they are equipped to fulfill the mission of the church.
- Curriculum and Programming Oversight: Oversee the selection, development, and implementation of curriculum and educational materials for all NextGen programs, ensuring they align with the church’s vision and provide opportunities for spiritual growth.
- Volunteer Recruitment and Training: Establish and maintain an effective ongoing lay volunteer recruitment and training program to ensure that all NextGen ministries are supported by a well-trained and passionate team of volunteers.
- Ministry Integration and Family Discipleship: Facilitate a cohesive and integrated approach to children, student, and family discipleship, collaborating with adult ministry leaders to ensure alignment with broader church initiatives and rhythms. Develop strategies that equip parents to lead their children in faith.
- Engagement with Broader Ministry Networks: Intentionally engage with local and national ministry leaders, staying informed about best practices in children’s, student, and family ministry. Bring new ideas and approaches to Reynolda Church to ensure the ministry remains innovative and effective.
- Program Development and Leadership: Lead the development and execution of engaging, intentional programming for children, students, and families, provide oversight for the High School and Young Adult Ministries at the Village Campus: ensuring that they are vibrant, discipleship-focused environments.
- Summer and Special Programming: Provide intentional, creative, and compelling summer programming and special events that engage children and students, helping them build relationships and grow in their faith. Ensure these programs offer opportunities for spiritual discovery and connection.
- Pastoral Care and Community Engagement: Provide pastoral care and shepherding to the NextGen ministry team and congregation. Participate in on-call rotations, lead weekend worship prayers, and offer care for families through weddings, funerals, and biblical counseling as needed. Facilitate a cross-generational sense of community and connection within the congregation.

- Minimum of a master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.
- At least five years of experience in pastoral or ministry leadership, with a focus on Next-Gen ministries.
