Peoples Church

Children's Pastor

Fresno,
California
The Children’s Pastor at Peoples Church will lead our Children’s Ministry, providing vision, pastoral leadership, and team development across one of the most active and visible ministries at the church. This pastor will help kids see God and participate in His redemptive story, leading the volunteers who lead the children while staying meaningfully connected to the kids themselves. With a new building, a strong base of around 550 to 650 children on a weekend, about 100 volunteers each weekend, and a team of three full-time staff, the Children’s Pastor inherits a healthy ministry with real momentum and significant runway to grow. We are looking for a Children’s Pastor with the leadership instincts to develop other leaders, the pastoral heart to walk with families, and the systems mindset to lead a ministry of meaningful scale.

Why We Love This Opportunity

Peoples Church has created a great opportunity for doing children’s ministry: a new building, a sizable budget, a full team of coordinators, and the kind of organizational backing that lets a leader actually lead. There is a healthy ministry here to build on, a deeply family-oriented congregation, and a church that will hand the right person authority and trust. For a leader who loves kids, loves their families, and wants to develop a strong team rather than carry it all themselves, this is a rare combination of resources, scope, and freedom.

A great match for this position would be:

  • Staff-Developing Leader: You manage a team of coordinators with a general manager mindset. You define roles, give direction, and raise the ceiling on the people underneath you, building a healthy staff culture as you go.
  • Volunteer Mobilizer: You recruit, train, and retain volunteers at scale, and you build systems that run well even when you are not in the room.
  • Relational Shepherd: You bring real pastoral presence with families. You handle parent concerns with maturity, care, and good judgment, and parents trust you with their kids.
  • Driven Self-Starter: You own your role without needing to be managed. You set the agenda, solve problems, and move forward, bringing the plan and the dream rather than waiting for one.

About This Organization

Peoples Church is a church in Fresno, California, and has been a prominent presence in the Central Valley for over 70 years. We average around 3,500 in Sunday morning attendance across our gatherings. We are well known and respected in the community for our focus on serving the city we love, and we are traditionally known as a loving church where people feel at home when they come on campus. Guided by our vision of Helping People See God and Participate in His Redemptive Story, we come alongside our community to show them the hope found in Jesus, shaped by our values of Loving God, Loving Others, Loving Truth, Loving Culture, and Loving Sacrifice. We are a multi-generational and increasingly diverse congregation, and we actively extend a hand into the community through events that meet people where they are. We are a big church that works hard to feel like a small one, where it is easy to get connected and where people are welcomed in and treated like family.

Location

Fresno is a respite from the large cities that typify ideas about California, such as San Francisco and Los Angeles. Fresno County produces agriculture that feeds the world and is home to a tight-knit, diverse community with a rich history and a small-town feel. Sitting in the heart of the Central Valley, Fresno offers an enviable location with easy access to both the mountains and the coast, with Yosemite, Sequoia, and Kings Canyon National Parks practically in the backyard, and both Los Angeles and the Bay Area within easy reach for a weekend trip. It is a place where a pastor and family can put down roots, raise children, and build a life alongside their ministry for the long haul.
