The Marina Campus Pastor will have the opportunity to help lead the Compass Church strategy for winning people to Jesus and being a light in the communities they serve. The right candidate will love this opportunity while serving in one of the fastest-growing and most beautiful cities on the central coast of California.
Compass Church was founded in 1869 as a Presbyterian church. For most of their 150+ year history, they were called The First Presbyterian Church of Salinas.
In the last decade, the congregation decided to move away from the PCUSA denomination and become aligned with the ECO Presbyterian denomination. That is also when the church name was changed to Compass Church.
Compass is intentionally evangelistic at its core. Hundreds of people come to faith in Jesus each year through the work and efforts of the Compass congregation.
Five years ago, the church opened its first satellite campus in Marina, one of the fastest-growing towns on the central coast. Compass has always been passionate about presenting God’s word in today’s world.
Compass is a unique church diverse in both age and ethnic diversity.
In the last few years, 435 people have become Christians at Compass, almost 200 last year alone. More than 60% of new members are either by conversion or reaffirmation of faith.
Compass Church’s strategy for winning people’s allegiance to Jesus is working — being a lighthouse in their communities, with people driving as far as 60 miles to worship.
The Campus Pastor at Compass Church Marina Campus is a high-capacity leader who can gather and empower people, build teams, and develop leaders. Under the leadership of the Lead Pastor, they will offer pastoral leadership to the congregation and community and ensure the church’s vision, values, culture, and systems are being reproduced effectively and healthily.
