About This Organization

Discovery Church launched as a non-denominational church in 1993. In 2005, they launched a second campus in southwest Orlando and a third campus in east Orlando in 2007. Most recently, the church moved the broadcast campus to the new Sand Lake Campus on 26 acres, which has state-of-the-art technology and tremendous ministry opportunities.

The Lead Pastor is Don Cousins. He is a leader, teacher, and author with more than 40 years of ministry experience, including 17 years as one of the founders of Willow Creek Community Church in Chicago. In 2010, Don became the Executive Pastor of Discovery and remained in that role until becoming Lead Pastor in 2013.

Position Description

Worship and Production are key ministries at Discovery. The church tries to equip the staff and volunteers with the tools required to honor the Lord with excellence. The broadcast campus seats up to 1,200 people and has a large LED wall to help craft dynamic worship environments every Sunday.

The Lighting Director serves as the point person for lighting technology, design, and strategy across all campuses. This role partners with Campus Tech Leads and other staff to bring operational excellence and a worshipful atmosphere to every worship gathering. This role will also help train and develop volunteers.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate lighting consoles for services at the Broadcast Campus and satellite campuses when necessary.
  • Partner with Campus Tech Leads to train, recruit, and develop volunteer lighting teams.
  • Be familiar and manage staging and rigging systems at Broadcast campus.
  • Troubleshoot & maintain lighting equipment.
  • Work with the Worship Arts team to design worship backgrounds for both Stages LED walls & Campus screens.
  • Assist in strategizing & designing staging elements & sets for all campuses.
  • Note: Campus Tech Leads will be responsible for implementing staging elements & sets.
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
