Liberty Baptist Church

Student Pastor

Why I Love This Opportunity

Ryan Latham

Liberty has an unparalleled opportunity to have a Kingdom impact in one of the fastest-growing cities in Alabama and one of the best places in America to raise a family. To become the best church for their community, they have undergone a re-visioning process with Auxano. Through this, they have clarified their mission as a church to be “Gladly spending our lives to see the Gospel transform the next generation,” mirroring 2 Corinthians 12:15. The new Student Pastor will have a “clean slate” to determine what student ministries should look and feel like at Liberty. This is an excellent opportunity to be creative, effect change and build, and do ministry with an exceptional team in a fantastic community.

About This Organization

Liberty Baptist Church has a rich history reaching back 175 years. While respectful of their past, they are poised for tremendous impact as they retool to be the church needed for the future. Their city is the second-fastest-growing city in Alabama, with 47% growth over the last ten years. Young families flock here for the relatively low cost of living and excellent school system.

Liberty plans to launch a second campus in 2024, with another in 2027. Each campus will have live teaching and unique staff, but Liberty’s DNA. Since COVID, the church is seeing close to 600 people gather on campus each weekend, which continues to grow. Liberty and the student ministries is well respected in the community.

Position Description

Liberty recognizes that hiring the right person as their Student Pastor is crucial to reaching their community. The goal of the Student Pastor (Middle and High School) is to make disciples, who make disciples. They accomplish this by creating environments where students are challenged by the truth of scripture and by assisting parents to become the primary disciple-makers of their students. The new Student Pastor will have the opportunity to build upon a solid foundation and a group of students ready to reach out to people who don’t yet know Jesus. The student ministry at Liberty has a solid foundation that was well established during Pastor Matt Adams’ 13 years as Student Pastor. With the new mission and vision of Liberty, there is plenty of room for this new leader to dream and envision a new way to make a Gospel impact in Chelsea.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Disciple the students into a personal relationship with God in both large group and smaller relational environments.
  • Grow the student ministry by creating attractive and compelling environments to which our students can invite their non-Christian friends.
  • Teach the students the Gospel and what that requires from them.
  • Build a ministry that engages with our local Middle and High school(s) in the area.

What a Strong Candidate Would Look Like:

  • Liberty Baptist Church is looking for a Student Pastor who is passionate about spending their life to see the Gospel transform the next generation by partnering with parents in the discipleship process of their teenager(s).
