Oh Be Joyful Church

Lead Pastor

Crested Butte, Colorado

Why I Love This Opportunity

Ernest Smith

Associate

I love this opportunity because of many reasons. First, the church is really healthy and the outgoing Lead Pastor is leaving well and helping with the transition. Second, I love the location. Crested Butte is one of the most beautiful town in Colorado. If you like the outdoors, you will love all there is to do in Crested Butte. I also love that this is the lead pastor role, so someone is able to use their gifts in a large capacity to lead a healthy, growing church.

About This Organization

Oh Be Joyful started in Crested Butte in 1975. Since that point God has grown the church to be a staple in the community, throughout the Gunnison Valley and all over the United States. OBJ Church is unique in that there are two different groups that call the church home, but are united as one body. The church is made up of year round residents of the valley. These are people who live in the area year round. In addition, there are many people who have second homes or come to visit throughout the year who also call OBJ home. As a result, this group then goes back to their primary homes and continues to engage with Oh Be Joyful even though they may live in another state. It’s a really unique community that has come together to form one body with the mission to see Gospel Transformation in the Gunnison Valley and Beyond.

Oh Be Joyful also has a heavy emphasis on impacting the community. We not only have normal church ministries like students and young adults, we also partner with local non-profit to make a diference in our community and beyond. Organization like Young Life, food pantries, adaptive sports programs and much more all partner with us to reach and care for people in our community and beyond.
