Kenwood Baptist Church

Worship Pastor

Cincinnati,
Ohio
Kenwood Baptist Church in Cincinnati, Ohio is searching for a Worship Pastor to lead their Worship Arts Team in creating Christ-centered, engaging worship environments for a vibrant, multi-ethnic, multi-generational congregation. This is a pastoral role, not simply a musical one, calling for someone who leads with both artistic credibility and genuine shepherd’s heart. The Worship Pastor will report directly to Senior Pastor David Palmer and collaborate closely with the broader pastoral team to design worship experiences that are rooted in Scripture, accessible to all generations, and wide enough in range to reflect the creative diversity already present in the congregation. This is a significant moment to step into a healthy, established ministry that is poised for its next chapter — including a planned sanctuary expansion.

Why We Love This Opportunity

What stands out most to me about Kenwood is the rare combination of genuine theological depth and authentic warmth. This isn’t a church trying to be something it’s not, and that kind of integrity is hard to find. The congregation itself tells the story: 24 languages spoken under one roof, generations of faithful saints sitting alongside families who just found their way in the door, and a staff culture built on humility and honest collaboration. And with a new sanctuary on the horizon, the next Worship Pastor won’t just inherit a healthy ministry, they’ll help shape what Kenwood sounds like for the next generation.

A great match for this position would be:

  • A pastor first, musician second: Someone whose love for Christ and His Word is evident not just on the platform but in how they develop relationships and care for their team throughout the week.
  • Genuinely at home in a diverse room: Kenwood’s 24 spoken languages and multi-generational makeup aren’t a talking point; they’re the culture, and the right person will find that energizing, not intimidating.
  • Musically credible and organizationally reliable: Capable of leading in a sophisticated musical environment (the Cincinnati Conservatory is 15 minutes away), while also running tight rehearsals, managing volunteers well, and keeping all the moving parts in order.
  • Creative within boundaries: Excited to bring variety and freshness to worship while staying anchored in historical Christian worship and doctrine rather than chasing trends.
  • A team-builder, not a solo act: Someone who finds genuine joy in developing other leaders, delegating well, and drawing out the gifts already present in the congregation rather than positioning themselves as the sole creative voice.
  • Comfortable holding tension: Kenwood’s congregation has leaders and members from a variety of denominational backgrounds; the right candidate will hold firmly to the cross, and values unity in Christ over winning secondary debates.

About This Organization

Kenwood Baptist Church traces its roots to 1908, when a small group of believers gathered in Cincinnati with a commitment to pass their faith on to the next generation. More than 115 years later, that commitment still defines the church. Located in a suburban neighborhood about 12 miles north of downtown Cincinnati, Kenwood has grown into a congregation of 400+ weekly worshipers representing extraordinary ethnic and generational diversity — 24 languages are spoken within the church family, and senior saints who have called Kenwood home for 70+ years now worship alongside dozens of families who have joined just in the last three years.

Four years ago, the church completed a significant sanctuary renovation and added a new atrium entrance, signaling both its investment in its future and its continued momentum. The congregation is elder-governed and pastor-led, with a staff team that operates with strong relational trust and a shared culture of learning. A final phase of building expansion is still ahead — including a new sanctuary — and the next Worship Pastor will have a meaningful hand in shaping that space.

Location

“My family and I love living in Cincinnati because everything is pretty much 20 minutes away. We can visit the beautiful zoo and conservatory, the art museum, the history and children’s museum, the sign museum, multiple historic downtowns with quaint shops and restaurants, many wonderful parks including the fossil park, the Loveland bike trail, and more, all just a short trip away.”
