Jordan Creek Church is searching for a Lead Pastor who can bring compelling visionary leadership, biblical teaching, and relational depth to a church entering one of the most important seasons in its young history. This leader will serve as the primary teaching voice while leading and developing the staff, partnering closely with the elders, and helping Jordan Creek move toward a healthy staff-led, elder-governed model. The right person will be a strong leader who does not need to lead with force—someone emotionally available, humble, decisive and capable of earning the trust of a community filled with accomplished and influential people. With a rapidly growing community, thriving next-generation ministries and a future permanent home on the horizon, there is significant opportunity to help shape what Jordan Creek becomes over the next decade.

  • Visionary Leader: Leads confidently in a culture filled with capable people. Casts a clear and compelling direction, creates alignment, follows through and develops others rather than simply collecting authority. Definitive about the path forward, while making others feel heard and understood. He can see beneath outward success and performance, understand what is really happening in people, and move strong leaders forward while making them feel heard. Strong level of commitment, faithfulness and organization displayed in resilience. Inspires growth and development of others.
  • Compelling Preacher: A gifted, biblical communicator who brings Scripture to life with clarity, conviction and genuine spiritual passion. He can preach expositionally without becoming academic, understands the people and culture of Solon, and helps listeners leave both encouraged and appropriately challenged. Preaches 50%+ of the time, leads the teaching team, and is comfortable sharing illustrations from his own life.
  • Emotionally Available: Warm, accessible and appropriately vulnerable. Has consistency between the person teaching on stage and the person having conversation at the local sporting event. Puts people ‘at ease’ when he is engaging with them. He is able to be present with staff, elders and people without keeping everyone at a professional distance. 
  • Humble Leader: Carries genuine authority without needing to prove he has it. Chooses to be among people rather than above them, welcomes input, owns mistakes and gives others credit. His humility does not make him indecisive; it makes people increasingly willing to trust his leadership. Chooses to come underneath and beside when possible, yet capable and confident to rise up when moments of decision or crisis demand leadership. 
  • Intentional Listener: Asks thoughtful questions, reads people well and listens for what is beneath the words. He can engage disagreement and tension without becoming defensive, make strong personalities feel genuinely understood, and then synthesize what he has heard into a clear direction.

About This Organization

Jordan Creek Church is a non-denominational Bible church located in Solon, Iowa, a growing community positioned between Iowa City and Cedar Rapids. Founded by seven families approximately ten years ago, Jordan Creek began with a strong emphasis on missional community and has grown to approximately 200–250 people in weekly attendance. The church has developed particularly strong ministries to children and students, an engaged volunteer culture, and a commitment to biblical teaching and authentic relationships.

Jordan Creek is entering a significant season of opportunity. The church owns land and is currently constructing a new facility, while the surrounding Solon community continues to experience considerable growth. Jordan Creek is led through a plurality of elders and intentionally values shared leadership rather than building the ministry around a single personality. The culture is relational, humble, and authentic—leaders are expected to be among people rather than above them, to earn influence through trust, and to lead other capable leaders without relying on positional authority.

There is a genuine family feel at Jordan Creek. Most of the people leading the church actually live within minutes of one another, their kids attend school together, families run into one another around town, and people notice when someone is missing. That proximity has created something that is increasingly rare: church life and everyday life overlap. It has also helped fuel thriving ministries to children and students. FUSE, Jordan Creek’s middle and high school ministry, regularly reaches a remarkable number of students for a church this size, while JCKids continues to invest deeply in children and families.

Located in an educated, successful, and highly engaged community, Jordan Creek has a unique opportunity to reach families throughout the rapidly growing corridor between Iowa City and Cedar Rapids. The church is looking toward the future with momentum, a strong volunteer base, healthy ministries to the next generation, and a desire to continue developing deeper discipleship and community throughout the church.
