The Shakopee Campus, set in one of Minnesota’s fastest-growing counties, stands out as our most diverse campus—embracing varied socioeconomic backgrounds, faith heritages, and ethnicities with a slightly more charismatic worship style. With a robust $1.26 million operating budget, almost 450 in average weekly attendance, and a dedicated staff of six in addition to the Campus Pastor, the campus boasts exceptional volunteer engagement. What truly distinguishes Shakopee is its deep community integration through outreach initiatives, particularly its leadership in the HEART Ministry, making it an ideal setting for those passionate about both spiritual growth and practical community impact.
- The Radical Middle: Hosanna defines itself as a “Jesus-leaning” church, avoiding narrow alignments of the left and right by focusing on what they call the “Radical Middle.” This perspective encourages a balanced approach, navigating complex social issues with empathy and courage, promoting unity and a deeper commitment to faith as opposed to division.
- Three Streams: The church’s spiritual culture is represented by three streams: Traditional, Evangelical, and Charismatic. This combination is intentional, allowing Hosanna to integrate historic Christian practices, a strong focus on scripture, and an openness to the Holy Spirit’s presence. This blend supports a worship experience that is both modern and rooted in ancient traditions.
- Other Distinctives: Hosanna values diversity and aims to reflect God’s love and justice by honoring each individual’s unique image of God. Mental health is also a priority, with resources and messages that integrate faith with mental health support. The church advocates for Women in Leadership, aligning with its mission to empower all believers, recognizing diverse gifts and roles within the community.
- Lead Pastor: Ryan Alexander has been married to his wife, Jenn, for nearly 25 years. Together, they have three sons, aged 18, 14, and 10. Born and raised in Washington state, Ryan attended Luther Seminary in St. Paul and has dedicated over 25 years to local church ministry. He has been a part of Hosanna for more than 15 years, serving as lead pastor for over nine years. He succeeded the founding pastor, who was the only lead pastor Hosanna had known until Ryan took on the role. Ryan is passionate about running, reading, golfing, coaching, and cheering for Seattle sports teams. Last summer, he took a four-month sabbatical that provided the time and space for deep personal work, enriching his soul, health, marriage, and ministry. This transformative experience reaffirmed his core calling as a “pastor.”
- Executive Team: The Executive Team leads the daily operations and ministry, overseen by the Lead Pastor who sets the vision and direction of the church and is accountable to the board for oversight and accountability. The Executive Team consists of Ryan Alexander (Lead Pastor), Kara Stoerzinger (Executive Pastor of Ministry), Nate Larson (Executive Pastor of Campus Development), Keevan Kosidowski (Executive Director of Ministry Services), Jenn Alexander (Executive Pastor of Brand Development), and Chris Greseth (Executive Pastor of Worship).
The Shakopee Campus Pastor reports to the Executive Pastor of Campus Development, and sits on the Senior Leadership Team.
