Hill Country Bible Church is a multi-site church – “one church in multiple locations.” “Multisite is one of their strategies to multiply the gospel presence in Greater Austin and beyond while staying unified as One Church aligning with their mission, vision, and values.”

In addition to locations/campuses, HCBC has responded to God’s call to be a church-planting movement of missionally-minded churches. HCBC has planted 38 autonomous churches since 1996

Position Description

The Lead Pastor will provide visionary leadership to advance the Mission, Vision, and Values of Hill Country. They will serve as the permanent member of the Elder Board while leading and collaborating with the Executive and Teaching teams. They will lead to seeing life change and a growing impact in the city and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:

What the candidate will do:

  • Pastoral leader of the church who preaches, trains, and encourages the church.
  • Permanent member of 9-member lay elder board (lay members serve 4-year rotation).
  • Provides vital input on strategic vision, ministry challenges, and biblical guidance to the elders during the decision-making process.

  • Gifting: Visionary, Leadership, High EQ, Teaching
  • Meets qualifications of an elder
  • Aligns with Hill Country and Our Beliefs Priesthood of Believers (Ephesians 4)
  • Disciple makerPersonal life patterns of evangelism
  • Complementarian

What the candidate has done:

  • 5+ years high level church leadership (1,000+), multi-site a plus
  • Proven experience teaching and effectively communicating biblical truths for life transformation
  • Experience working with a multi-generational, family-oriented congregation
  • Committed to lay elder board governance
  • A lifelong student with a BA in Biblical Studies or Seminary required
