About This Organization

Located in Bellevue community in Nashville, TN, The Church at Harpeth Heights is a regional campus of Brentwood Baptist Church. Its attendance is approximately 300 each Sunday but has grown by over 20% so far over the last year. Launched in 2018 through a merger with another church, it is Brentwood’s eighth campus and is led by Brandon Hays.

The Church at Harpeth Heights contextualizes the larger Brentwood Baptist Church mission to engage the whole person with the whole gospel of Jesus Christ anywhere, anytime, with anybody. Brandon’s specific leadership style is relationally oriented, dynamic, and growth-oriented. Brandon is passionate and graceful, and his commitment and love for Harpeth Heights is contagious. The team at Harpeth Heights is marked by their hope, optimism, collaborative spirit, and desire to help people engage in ministry together. These marks are signatures to both Brandon, but also The Church at Harpeth Heights.

All campuses function under the governance of Brentwood Baptist. Each campus is an established entity operating as a whole and permanent part of the Brentwood Baptist. Each maintains pre-determined alignment characteristics that uphold the Brentwood Baptist “DNA” while also containing some contextualized characteristics to allow it to best reach its target local community. The Church at Harpeth Heights is a church that has robust ministry offerings that prioritize making disciples who make disciples across generations. Position Description

The Harpeth Heights Groups & Missions Minister is responsible to the church, under the direction of the Campus & Teaching overall direction and execution of all adult groups with attention to young adults and young families. Additionally, the Groups & Missions Minister is responsible for coordinating, implementing, and evaluating the local and global serving efforts of the campus.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • In coordination with the Campus & Teaching Pastor, implement and oversee a strategy that establishes & supports a growing number of group opportunities that engage adults in biblical community.
  • Effectively identify, coach, and support a consistent and growing number of adult group leaders.
  • Facilitate & multiply group opportunities for both on-campus and off-campus groups.
  • Using the church’s Disciple-Making Strategy (i.e., DXD strategy) as a template, implement a plan to equip and mobilize a growing number of people to share their faith and make disciples where they live, work, and play.
  • Engage and equip the congregation for mission opportunities both locally and globally.
  • Consistently develop ongoing partnerships with campus-specific Hope For The World partners.
  • Plan, organize, and implement short-term mission journeys & mobilize congregants for participation.
  • Maintain a detailed process for capturing stories of life-transformation and decisions for Christ, as a result of local & global missions opportunities.

 

What a Strong Candidate Would Look Like:

  • Understands how to build and rebuild a Groups Ministry with wisdom, patience, and innovation
  • Organizes and galvanizes people around a shared vision for the future and the role they can play in it
  • Patience in training and retraining existing group leaders around new approaches and ways of operating as groups
  • Enjoys and is skilled at preaching 4 – 6 times per year on Sunday mornings
  • Sees the opportunity at Harpeth Heights to continue creating a healthy community and cultivating new, Biblical community for those not at Harpeth Heights
  • Understands and has led through helping a church return to a state of health and thriving again
  • Able to adapt and adjust as needed based on the local missions opportunities the church finds itself presented with
  • Has experience in helping followers of Jesus go deeper in their walk with Jesus, while also engaging those outside the walls of the church to connect with Jesus
  • Master’s degree and a minimum of five years of ministry experience
