Fusion Bible Church is located in Durant Oklahoma which is known for its small-town culture, rich history, and Friday-night football in the fall. FBC is focused on one simple mission and purpose: to make disciples and see that every man, woman, and child in Texoma has the opportunity to become a disciple of Jesus Christ. Fusion is an ideal opportunity for someone who is looking for a big-city ministry with small-town living.
In early 2012, a small number of people from Durant began worshiping at Sherman Bible Church. This small group began meeting weekly. As it grew, it became apparent that there was a need for another church campus in Durant. In the fall of 2013, 45 people met at the public library in Durant to launch the church by signing a membership charter and making a commitment to make disciples for Jesus in Texoma. With the support of the leadership in Sherman, Fusion Bible launched on September 22, 2013, at Durant Middle School.
Over the next few years, many people made commitments to follow Jesus, were baptized, and saw great life transformation. The number of D-groups grew, and church membership rose to new levels. As 2015 was coming to an end, it was clear that the Durant campus had grown up and was ready to stand on its own. Fusion Bible became an autonomous congregation with its own local leadership in January 2016. God seemed to be smiling at His Church in Durant.
As the number of people attending Fusion grew, a permanent church home was needed. In the fall of 2016, the first Building and Missions Initiative campaign was underway. A God-sized campaign was projected and realized when the pledges totaled nearly seven times the amount of the annual budget for that year. By the summer of 2018, we were blessed to move to our new permanent location.
In 2019, our founding pastor, Dennis Henderson retired. Fusion is now in an exciting new season of growth and opportunity and recently called its new Lead Pastor Brad Hixon, who joined the church in early 2023.
The Student Pastor at Fusion Bible will be responsible for both the Middle School and High School ministries. They will be the primary teacher and event creator for our Sunday morning and Wednesday night gathering of students. This position will help Fusion Bible Church build a disciple-making movement with students and parents of students. This position requires experience in creating and multiplying small groups. Also, this position will require engaging students on mission trips, student camps, and discipleship weekends.
