Exciting days are ahead as First Baptist Stephenville continues to be a steady and stabilizing force that is always ready to serve its community where needed. The church displays its desire to benefit the community through countless individual acts and numerous organized benevolent programs each year. First Baptist Stephenville also has an active and intentional presence on the campus of Tarleton State University, which is located less than one mile from the church facility. They are reaching hundreds of college students weekly. To better serve the community, the church is embarking on a massive renovation project involving updates to its children’s and preschool ministry wings, the worship center/auditorium, and community gathering spaces. This opportunity is perfect for a Music & Worship Pastor who desires to come alongside a talented staff team and committed congregation to help them reach this community with the gospel.
First Baptist has been a part of the Stephenville community for 165 years. The church has grown to a membership of 1,207 people with an average attendance of around 500. Still, no one can quantify its positive impact on the surrounding community. This multigenerational congregation takes its mission seriously to “love God, love people, and make disciples.” Over the next three years, they will invest significantly in training disciple-makers, mission efforts, and intentional ministry to the students of Tarleton State University. The people of First Baptist Stephenville are relationally genuine and generous.
First Baptist is a multigenerational and diverse congregation that values a blended style of musical worship. They are a singing church that enjoys new expressions through song while also incorporating modernized arrangements of timeless hymns. A modern band and a small group of front-line vocalists drive the music. A worship choir has also been an important part of the musical culture here. The church appreciates musical worship that is unifying and inclusive, with the goal of participation as opposed to a performance that considers the congregation as spectators.
The Music and Worship Pastor’s responsibility is to equip others for service through music and worship to build up the body of Christ. The new leader will be responsible for the church’s musical and production (audio, video, and lighting) efforts.
