Fernandina Beach,

Florida

Why I Love This Opportunity

Dan Lovaglia

Associate

God is at work in and through First Baptist Church Fernandina Beach (FBFirst). In an era where many churches are struggling, FBFirst is experiencing remarkable growth inside and out. Whoever steps in as the next Children’s Pastor/Director has the opportunity to serve scores of kids, leaders, and families in significant ways.

About This Organization

Walk into FB First, and you’re welcomed like family. This warm, vibrant Southern Baptist Church has led people toward Christ for over 150 years on and around Amelia Island in northeast Florida. FBFirst has grown nearly 50% since 2021, unlike most congregations after the pandemic. Every week, a steady stream of young families, retirees, and everyone in between come to the church from the greater Nassau County area and as far as Jacksonville. FBFirst serves just under 1,000 people, including 200 children up to 5th grade.

Position Description

FBKids needs a leader of leaders with an entrepreneurial spirit and track record to take the ministry to the next level. This includes assessing and addressing current realities while dreaming about the future, so making and equipping disciples happens with kids, leaders, and families. FBFirst is looking for a leader of leaders who takes the initiative, collaborates with other ministry leaders, casts a clear, compelling vision, and rallies the people and resources necessary to follow through from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The Children’s Pastor/Director is responsible for leading the church’s effort to minister with and to children from birth through 5th Grade, both in the church and in the community, to achieve the mission of the church.
  • Professionally enhance ministry atmospheres and facilitate ministry programming.
  • Foster an atmosphere of corporate cooperation and efficiency that delights in the supremacy of God and encourages and inspires the congregation while drawing in those who are not yet followers of Jesus Christ.
  • Prioritizing personal relationships with volunteer ministry partners, supporting ministries, and FBFirst staff will be especially important.
  • The Children’s Pastor/Director’s work is performed under the general supervision of the Family Pastor while working closely with the FBFirst staff and appropriate Ministry Teams.

What a Strong Candidate Would Look Like:

  • Innovates, inspires and implements so kids, leaders, and families are multiplied as Jesus’ disciples.
  • Demonstrates a developmental mindset and approach to ministry.
  • Experienced in building, organizing, releasing, and managing teams for meaningful ministry.
  • Ability to inventory the children’s ministry, recalibrate it in alignment with FBFirst’s mission and strategy, and activate leaders, teams, and programming for impact and sustainability.
