About This Organization

After a couple years of small group gatherings, calling a pastor and growing in attendance, services officially began on May 4, 1975 and the new church was chartered as Sugar Creek Baptist Church. The church grew and the facilities were expanded beyond the original chapel building to include a two-story education facility and a three-story gymnasium which doubled as a worship and family recreational facility. At the time of longtime pastor Dr. Havard’s retirement on October 30, 1988, the church membership was just under 2,000.

Under the leadership of new Sr. Pastor, Fenton Moorhead, the church entered a period of growth in which multiple morning services were necessary to accommodate those attending Sunday morning worship. A building program was instituted to construct a 3,000 seat Worship Center, which was completed in January 1994. This beautiful facility continues to house Sugar Creek’s multiple morning worship services as well as conferences, concerts and other outside events from the community. Since the addition of the worship center, two additional office buildings located adjacent to the church parking lot have been acquired to provide an adult education facility and the main church offices. In October 2001, Pastor Moorhead retired as pastor of the church.

On October 13, 2002, Pastor Mark Hartman was called as senior pastor. Pastor Hartman’s leadership has given Sugar Creek a renewed sense of purpose. In the past few years, attendance in Sunday Morning Worship and Bible Fellowship has grown dramatically.

Today, Sugar Creek is a multisite church with 3 locations in the Houston Area. Sugar Creek is an inviting, inspiring, and friendly place where everyone is welcome. Position Description

The Facilities Director is expected to be available for ministry opportunities with ministers of other divisions in the spirit of teamwork on other projects which are deemed appropriate. This includes offering his time, skills, and gift sets as they apply toward the ongoing welfare and ministry of the church. This is a full-time position.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the Facilities Staff and Facilities Ministry of the church to create a vision for excellence for all ministries.
  • Builds a superior working environment with both his Staff and member volunteers.
  • Establishes and maintains a high standard in the development and execution of an annual operating budget for his division.
  • Responsible for oversight of scheduling all church events.
  • Creates and organizes systems to operate the facilities in a safe and efficient manner to ensure appropriate controls are in place.
  • Hires, trains, evaluates, and manages Facilities Staff, including conflict resolution and restructuring of work assignments.
  • Responsible for campus security including keys/codes/badges and entry systems; member and vendors/contractors access; monitoring of fire/burglar alarms; and assuring the safety of all visitors, staff, and members.
  • Develops specs for bids from contractors/vendors to help accomplish the maintenance of the facilities. Coordinates implementation of agreed to contracts with the vendors.
