The Well is committed to continue to grow as a family while maintaining a culture of intimacy and connectivity. No matter their size, they want to stay deeply connected in relationships and in life! The Well longs to multiply and make a Kingdom impact both in the United States and globally. Their vision of seeing hundreds of churches planted fuels them because they know this will produce thousands of disciples. The mission of The Well is to make much of Jesus by reproducing disciples who impact the world for the glory of God and their vision is to see 100 churches planted nationally and 100 churches planted globally within their first 50 years of our existence.
In 2012, Lead Pastor, Tory Mayo, and his wife, Natalie began to meet with a core team of 11 people in a “house church” type of setting. They felt like the Lord was leading them to be in the city (downtown), where the need for a church was the largest, and the community most diverse. By August, their team of 11 grew to 24 and soon after they officially launched The Well and the church began to grow from there.
Since then, they’ve seen community groups grow to become the backbone of the church family — one of the greatest things that makes The Well who they are is sending out multiple church planters and missionaries both domestically and internationally. They’ve been used by God to meet people’s needs during the COVID pandemic, baptize new believers, increasingly grow as a diverse community that mirrors their true home, and serve the city of Austin.
The Well was intentional about where they planted in Austin since the area they’re focused on is known for being close to the University of Texas, as well as being in one of the more diverse parts of the city.
