About This Organization

Elevate Metro KC is an affiliate of the larger organization of Elevate USA that started in 2019. Their mission is to build long-term, life-changing relationships with urban youth, equipping them to thrive and contribute to their community.

Position Description

The Director of Development will work closely with the Executive Director to ensure the critical components of the organization’s fund development plan are effectively designed and executed.

Key Responsiblities: 

  • Execute the fund development plan, working with staff, the Board, and Executive Director.
  • Build relationships with current and prospective donors, growing their connection and investment in Elevate Metro KC, with a particular emphasis on major gifts.
  • Over time, expand the development plan to secure major gifts from corporations and foundations.
  • Over time, round out the development plan by offering diverse opportunities including those for entry-level donors.
  • Manage development staff, which currently includes a part-time Fund Development Coordinator and a contracted grant writer, ensuring optimal work environment and performance for each person.
  • Manage day-to-day administrative responsibilities associated with development efforts including prompt follow-up, accurate CRM input, meeting grant deadlines, etc.

  • Relationship-building and communication: able to build and maintain positive relationships with team members, and current and prospective donors, and have strong communication skills, including verbal processing and attention to detail.
  • Self-motivation and independence: a self-starter, able to work independently, and have a sales mentality.
  • Resilience and adaptability: able to ask for major gifts, handle disappointment and rejection, stay resilient, and handle multiple situations at a time.
  • Fundraising and representation: have a focus on fundraising and have high integrity to represent the organization well to the public.
  • High EQ: able to navigate the circles the organization runs in, speak to secular and Christian audiences, have a heart for urban youth, and be able to leverage and prioritize connections.
