Element Church is in an exciting new season, which is possible because of years of faithfulness to God’s calling on them and their vision to reach the people of Cheyenne. They are unapologetic about their passion for reaching the unchurched, mis-churched, and under-churched of their community. God has blessed that, and they aren’t changing it. However, they are in a season of leaning into God’s call for them also to be making disciples who make disciples.
One of Element’s greatest contributions to Cheyenne is its food pantry ministry, and they are known for meeting the felt needs of the people in their community.
Element Church has been reaching the people of Cheyenne since 2007. Jeff Maness boldly obeyed God and was sent out by his home church in Gillette, Wyoming, to reach Cheyenne, the capital city. Element experienced substantial growth early on, focusing on the vision of helping people experience life to the fullest, connect to meaningful relationships, and make a lasting impact.
If you ask anyone in Cheyenne about Element, they will say that they are a church that loves people in truth and deed, not just in word. From the beginning, a real heart for community outreach has reverberated throughout every ministry.
Recently Jeff felt God calling him to a church in Houston, and the search for a new Senior Pastor brought Buz Hannon and his family to the church. While bold teaching, community impact, and sacrificial generosity are in Element Church’s DNA, they are also improving their discipleship efforts and long-term care for the amazing people in the church. Momentum has been building as they went from a dip when Jeff left to 500 to 600 and now bumping up against 800 again on an average Sunday. This happened quickly, and they are working hard to capture this momentum while also doing some deep introspection on their effectiveness and long-term strategy.
Worship is modern, and sermons are Gospel-centered, with a strong application. They are in the Western Conference of the Evangelical Church.
