Position Description

The Senior Pastor has primary responsibility for providing spiritual leadership to the congregation through biblically sound preaching, discipleship, teaching, pastoral care, outreach, leadership, and oversight of the church, its ministries, and the staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The Senior Pastor will be in charge of the welfare and oversight of the Church.
  • He will preach and teach God’s Word to the Church.
  • He will also communicate his vision for the Church to staff, lay leaders, and members to motivate them for ministry and mission.
  • He will conduct religious services on stated and special occasions, administer ordinances, lead in ministry to the members of the Church and community, and perform other duties that usually pertain to the office of Pastor.
  • He will be a member of all ministries and committees.
  • He may call a special meeting of the Deacons of any committee or ministry committee at such time as he may, in sound discretion, determine.
  • He will be responsible for administering and implementing the personnel policies approved by the Church.
  • He will be responsible for the development, organization, and direction of personnel and will determine the specific duties of staff members and supervise them accordingly.
  • Through his staff, the Senior Pastor will administer the financial policies approved by the Church, consistent with the budget.
  • He will have the duty of searching for and recommending new ministry staff members to the Staff Development Committee and, with that committee, recommending such candidates to the Church.
  • He will have special charge of the pulpit ministry of the Church and will provide for preachers and workers to assist in revival meetings and other special services and for pulpit supply when he is absent.
  • In his legal office as President of the corporation, the Senior Pastor will have legal duties referenced in Article VI Section 2.2(b) of these Bylaws. The Senior Pastor will perform, in general, all duties incident to the office of President and such other duties as may be prescribed by the Church from time to time.

  • A completed or in-progress MDIV is required.
