Dunwoody Baptist Church has a vibrant, Christ-centered ministry history and is poised for an even more promising future. For the leader passionate about shepherding a flagship multigenerational ministry through vision, preaching, and missional engagement, this Senior Pastor role is a unique opportunity to lead a healthy church as it launches its next chapter. On day one, this next Senior Pastor will experience a welcoming church mobilized with congregational support, staff leadership, and ministry resources.
I am excited to see what God will do as this new Senior Pastor leads DBC in multiplying its ministry at new levels, loving its neighbors, reaching the nations, and equipping the next generation for lasting Gospel impact.
Dunwoody Baptist Church (DBC) is a place where people are passionately becoming more like Jesus and are committed to experiencing transformation throughout their home, community, church, and world. The church has an active membership of nearly 1,400 people and an annual general fund budget of $3.8 million. The church is in a healthy season of growth and leadership abundance as it seeks to call a new Senior Pastor following the recent retirement of beloved Senior Pastor Allen Jackson.
DBC has a strong history of supporting missions and sending its members locally, nationally, and internationally. This is demonstrated through 17% of its budget being designated for missions and supporting 47 local and global ministries. DBC is committed to being a multigenerational, multicultural, and multinational church. It is also an everyday community hub of great relevance with various community-oriented programs hosted on campus.
Ultimately, Dunwoody Baptist Church focuses on loving God, loving people, making disciples, and making a difference.
The Senior Pastor is the spiritual leader for DBC, the primary teacher of God’s Word, and the primary leader for the church and ministerial staff.
The Senior Pastor’s role in the administrative functions of DBC should not become so primary as to interfere with his proper study time and teaching. His primary role is to lead the church’s growth and spiritual well-being through vision, leadership development, teaching, and setting a Christ-like example.
