I absolutely love this opportunity because it’s at a very healthy church who is focused on reaching the lost. In addition, they just acquired a new facility in the heart of downtown Colorado Springs. This new facility is beautiful and in the perfect location to reach all types of people. This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to lead well and reach people for the cause of the Gospel.
Woodmen Valley Chapel was founded in 1979 by a local real estate developer who had a heart for evangelism and church planting. He had a 40+ acre tract of land and began a Bible study in a construction trailer on the site. In a short time, the group outgrew the trailer and moved into a small existing building on the property. Over time they outgrew this small structure too, and built a “stone chapel” on the grounds. This was a challenging time for the new church, and often the church utility bills would be placed on a bulletin board in the back of the chapel and the small church community would take them and pay them for the church. This buy-in of the congregation, through serving, praying, giving and sharing the gospel, is a foundational value of the church over the years.
In 1994, the current worship center was built. The church continued to grow with the Lord’s blessing and an emphasis on evangelism, discipleship, and the foundation of God’s Word. In 2005 the East campus (Woodmen Heights) was launched, and in 2015 the North campus (Monument) was launched. Then in 2018 the South campus (Southwest) launched and the Ark Valley (correctional facility) campus was launched inside prison walls. Today, Woodmen is a multi-site church with 10,000+ people who call Woodmen their home. There have been five Lead Pastors in the 43 years of the church’s existence, and most of the living former Lead Pastors, who still reside in Colorado Springs, continue to attend the church.
The church is focused on loving one another, the community each campus is planted in, and the world at large. There is a strong emphasis on the teaching of God’s Word, as well as personal responsibility to love well and change lives through Christ.
The Campus Pastor at Woodmen is focused on discipling and giving pastoral care to the congregants. They will get the privilege of being a weekend presence on the platform, meeting people in the lobby and rubbing shoulders with the downtown community. They will have the opportunity to lead their campus staff, meeting with attenders and Ministry Partners (volunteers), and contributing ideas to the overall campus philosophy at Woodmen. The Campus Pastor will have the opportunity to preach 4-6 times a year at their own campus, lead mission trips, work with Deacons, and maintain the overall spiritual health of the campus.
