In our view, it would be challenging to find a more initiative oriented environment that cares so deeply about the “being” and “doing” aspect of a person’s journey with Jesus.

Southern Hills Church exudes a deep commitment to Biblical Truth and being a church that opens its doors to all people, regardless of where they are in their faith journey, and helping them become disciples of Jesus Christ. It is no surprise that is why they have baptized nearly 300 people in the last three years and had nearly 700 guests in 2023 alone.
Located in southwest Las Vegas, Southern Hills will celebrate its 20th anniversary as a church this summer and will soon open a new 1,300 seat worship center. Paired with a new and expanded outdoor patio and baptistery, Southern Hills clearly reinforces in its space, ministry programming, and compelling Sunday worship opportunities that they are active in their pursuit of being catalysts for new life in Jesus Christ. Led by Pastor Josh Teis, Southern Hills is a multigenerational faith community that prioritizes evangelism, spiritual growth and formation, and integrating one’s faith across all areas of life. Pastor Josh is a highly engaging Bible teacher and a pastor who desires his congregation to experience the joy of following Jesus in all of life’s seasons. He personally exemplifies this in his teaching and personal evangelism, while ensuring the church’s staff and key leaders are rallied around this same missional priority. As Southern Hills begins its next twenty years they will do so with gratitude, anticipation, and a spirit of freedom for all that God will continue to do through them.
One of the most important roles for this next chapter in the life of Southern Hills is the Discipleship Pastor. Working under the direction of the Executive Pastor, Caleb Sargent, this new role will carry significant oversight and leadership responsibility in both helping people connect with Jesus, Southern Hills, and the church-based disciple making community. It will be vital that this new pastoral leader continues the church’s already strong assimilation pathway as he improves the church’s effectiveness in helping adults connect into the church’s group’s ministry. Without proactive attention to both of these facets of church life the new leader will miss the mission of Southern Hills and the opportunity of this role. Finally, this leader also needs to be experienced in leading paid staff (full and part-time) to achieve their ministry goals and in a fashion aligned with Southern Hills’ ministry philosophy and annual goals.
