Crosswater Community Church

Children's Pastor

Ponte Vedra,
Florida

Why I Love This Opportunity

Crosswater feels like a church with a clear vision and strong momentum—missing one key piece. This role isn’t about maintaining a program. It’s about restoring health to a core ministry that shapes the future of the church. If you’re energized by building, leading volunteers, and seeing kids genuinely respond to Christ, this is a rare moment to step into something that matters deeply.
As Lead Pastor Josh Harvill said, “Crosswater feels like a puzzle that is missing one piece.” This hire completes the picture.

About This Organization

Crosswater Community Church is a gospel-centered, elder-governed, pastor-led church located in Nocatee/Ponte Vedra, Florida. Founded with a heart to reach families and make disciples, Crosswater has grown into a multi-generational congregation marked by sincere worship, strong biblical preaching, and a desire to love people well. Their mission is simple and bold: to empower families to live their purpose in Christ . They want to be a place where people encounter God, embrace others, engage the world, and expand the Kingdom.
Today, Crosswater stands at an inflection point. Worship and discipleship are strong. Youth ministry is gaining traction. But children’s ministry has experienced turnover and inconsistency in recent seasons. Leadership is not looking for a caretaker—they are looking for a builder who sees both the responsibility and the opportunity of this moment.
The Nocatee/Ponte Vedra community have been consistently ranked among the best places in Florida to raise a family. Families move here intentionally—for schools, safety, recreation, and community. St. Johns County is uniquely open to faith-based partnerships, including access to schools and community spaces. That creates real outreach opportunity. If you want to lead a ministry where families are present, engaged, and spiritually hungry—this is fertile ground.

Position Description

The Children’s Pastor will lead and rebuild a healthy, Christ-centered ministry for children (K–5) and their families. This role exists to disciple children, equip volunteers, and partner with parents as primary disciplers. It combines pastoral leadership with organizational clarity and outreach initiative.
The Children’s Pastor will also work closely with ministry leaders to ensure unity and continuity across family ministries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide spiritual, pastoral, and organizational leadership for children from Kindergarten through 5th grade, ensuring the gospel is clearly taught and discipleship is intentional.
  • Recruit, train, deploy, and support a healthy volunteer team that creates a consistent, safe, and excellent ministry environment.
  • Partner meaningfully with parents as the primary disciplers of their children by equipping and encouraging them regularly.
  • Develop and implement age-appropriate discipleship pathways aligned with Crosswater’s mission and theological convictions.
  • Collaborate closely with the Academy Director, Nursery Director, and Student Pastor to ensure unity across family ministries.
  • Establish a children’s ministry leadership team that helps cast vision, build morale, and multiply influence.
  • Proactively engage families beyond church walls through outreach initiatives, school partnerships, and community presence.
  • Provide spiritual leadership and ministry alignment for Crosswater Academy, helping expand both enrollment and gospel impact.

What a Strong Candidate Would Look Like:

  • Has demonstrated success building (not merely maintaining) a children’s or family ministry, ideally with at least five years in a single ministry context.
  • Naturally earns trust from parents and commands respect through calm, mature leadership presence.
  • Loves kids—but understands that leading volunteers and partnering with parents are the primary levers of impact (volunteers → parents → kids).
  • Can shift hats fluidly: energetic and engaging with children, thoughtful and reassuring with parents, clear and collaborative with staff and volunteers.
  • Takes initiative without waiting to be told what to do—sees gaps and moves toward them.
  • Brings a shepherd’s heart—relational, empathetic, faithful, and team-oriented.
  • Is fully aligned with Crosswater’s statement of faith.
