There is nothing like the kindness and genuine nature of midwest culture! Located just 20 minutes outside of vibrant Kansas City, the next Music Pastor will get to be a part of a beautiful church community where they can truly put down roots.
Crossroads was founded in 1995 by Brad Fangman in Shawnee, KS, as a church plant from the Christian Evangelizing Association of Kansas. For the first 9 years of the church’s life, they met at a local elementary school on Johnson Drive. In 2004, Crossroads built their first building and moved into the current location on the corner of Johnson Drive and Renner Road, just off I-435 in Shawnee. In 2011 the building expanded and the Next Gen wing was added to the north end of the building.
In 2020, the church began the process of making a change in senior leadership. In June 2021, Kurt Witten was hired and began a 20-month transition plan, culminating in February 2023, bringing a fresh vision to the staff and from the stage. Brad transitioned from the lead pastor position into a pastoral care role, helping to shepherd the church members while also remaining a steady presence for the staff and congregation.
Crossroads is made up of an amazing group of people, from ministry team leaders to volunteers to regular attenders. Crossroads is a community that loves to love and serve others – the church, the community, and the world.
Crossroads Christian Church is located in Johnson County, KS which is home to an abundant family life atmosphere. Schools, youth sports, dining, shopping, and quiet parks abound. Located just 20 minutes from downtown KC and a short drive south of Legends in Kansas City, KS, Crossroads is very close to a large variety of entertainment options, while still preserving the quiet of neighborhood life. Kansas City is known for being a great sports town (especially during football season), being the barbecue capital of the world, and for also promoting many forms of entertainment and engagement all wrapped up in Midwestern blue-collar hospitality. Crossroads is in one of the top counties for raising a family in both Kansas and Missouri.
Quote from a staff member about why they love living in the area.
“This is an area with much to do and that is very easy to get around, but also with a small town feel. It’s home.”
Crossroads is a relational team, built on collaboration, humility and honesty. We celebrate the wins of each other’s teams and never place ourselves above the rest.
We are looking for someone who preferably has a four year degree from an accredited Bible College or University. However, prior experience and demonstrated ability can waive this preference for the right candidate.
