About This Organization

The story of Corinth Christian Church begins in the summer of 1861, when a group of believers sensed that this community needed a church. Through prayer and revival meetings led by Philip Lamar, that vision became reality. Billie and Charlotte Shelnutt felt called to donate a blacksmith shop, and the church began meeting there. To this day, Corinth continues to gather with the same purpose: preaching and teaching Jesus and training disciples to make an impact in the community.

Over the years, buildings have been built, remodeled, and repurposed, all with one goal: reaching the people around them. Since the beginning, that has always been the heart of Corinth.

Much has changed since 1861. In the early years, offerings often included chickens and eggs. The church could only meet on the fourth Sunday of the month, relying on traveling preachers to bring the message. Today, the church gathers every Sunday with faithful ministers who are here for the long haul. While methods and circumstances have changed, the mission has remained the same: to win people to Jesus, train them as disciples, and send them out to impact the community.

Today, Corinth Christian Church is a multi-generational church. It is common to see three, and sometimes even four, generations worshiping together. The church remains outward-focused through ministries like Night to Shine and Feed My Starving Children. Corinth is growing, active, and expectant, having recently completed a capital campaign to build a new auditorium to make room for those God is sending their way.
