Key Responsibilities
- Lead outreach efforts targeting young adults ages 18–35, with intentional focus on four distinct groups: college students, working young adults, married couples without children, and married couples with children.
- Build and maintain meaningful relationships with colleges and universities within a 25-mile radius, creating on-campus presence through events, Bible studies, and community connection points.
- Own and develop North Oaks’ guest integration process —from first visit to full involvement—including direct oversight of the guest services coordinator and development of a world-class hospitality team.
- Organize and participate in community events, service projects, and social gatherings that increase North Oaks’ presence and relationships in the Canyon Country and Santa Clarita Valley community.
- Equip and mobilize young adult members to share their faith confidently and engage newcomers, including oversight of the “Story of Redemption” evangelism program and other outreach training resources.
- Inspire and lead small groups and social events that foster authentic community and spiritual growth among young adults.
- Build partnerships with local organizations, colleges, and community groups that expand North Oaks’ reach and relationships across the valley.
- Advise the pulpit minister and worship team on how to create worship experiences that resonate with young adults and newcomers.
Opportunities/Challenge
- Build from a Green Field: North Oaks isn’t looking for someone to replicate what’s already been tried—they’re looking for someone with the creativity and conviction to build something new. The systems and strategies for reaching young adults in the Santa Clarita Valley are largely unbuilt, and this person will have real freedom and real ownership to develop the ideas, events, and relationships that connect a rising generation to Jesus and to this community.
- Bridge Two Generations: The majority of North Oaks’ congregation is older, while the valley around them is filled with college students, young professionals, and young families. The right candidate will see this tension as an opportunity—someone who genuinely loves and honors the faithful people already in the room while building bridges to the generation God has placed outside the doors. This isn’t a siloed young adult ministry; it’s a role that helps the whole church lean outward together.
- Establish Pathways for Guests: North Oaks has people showing up—but the processes to move them from first-time guest to fully integrated follower of Jesus aren’t yet in place. This role carries real ownership over building a guest journey that is warm, organized, and genuinely reflects who North Oaks is: a community that wants every person to feel seen, welcomed, and invited into something worth belonging to.
