Bay Hills will be the most diverse church you’ve ever stepped into! That’s not just talk. The diversity at Bay Hills is broad spectrum and includes ethnicity, socio-economics, politics, and generations. Bay Hills strives to be a church for all people and Sundays look a lot like heaven in this regard! The right pastor will truly be able to share Jesus with all walks of life.
Bay Hills Community Church began as the Evangelical Free Church of El Sobrante, on the eve of the Second World War. In 1985, church leadership decided to make sustainable growth its primary goal. Part of this plan led to the hiring of a recent seminary graduate, David Fasold from Chicago. Using David’s determination to reach out to as many in the community as possible, the church focused on maintaining quality staff and providing its congregation a meaningful and revitalizing place to worship.
For 24 out of 25 years, the church has consistently grown. By 2006, with the sanctuary at capacity for each of three services, Bay Hills made an agreement with El Sobrante Christian High School and began services there. In 2012, they repurposed an abandoned Circuit City retail space and had church there for 5 years. In 2017, they moved next door to a Barnes & Noble retail location where they have remained since.
In August of 2015, God provided an incredible opportunity. Bay Hills sold its older facility to First Baptist of El Sobrante and in turn bought theirs. They are intentionally and proactively working toward a master plan that would include renovation of the existing property as well as new construction on the 5 acres of land.
Bay Hills came out of a unique time of change at the end of 2019, transitioning out two of their full-time pastors as they moved on to other ministry opportunities and began 2020 with four new pastoral hires. Pastor Allen Coleman joined Bay Hills as Senior Pastor in August of 2022 and hit the ground running. He has been a true blessing to Bay Hills Church. The church is now firmly in a season of both growth & health.
The Community Life Pastor exists to connect guests and members to community, so they can reach others on mission. In other words, this ministry’s objective is to make disciples who make disciples. This includes oversight of community groups, reach initiatives, connect processes, membership processes, next steps, and church-wide events. The Community Life Pastor directly oversees the Connect Director and works closely with the Executive Coordinator on special projects and events.
