Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Planning and Vision: Develop and lead a forward-looking communications strategy that highlights Christ Covenant’s mission, vision, and values through creative storytelling and strategic alignment. Collaborate with senior and ministry leadership to ensure messaging, experiences, and environments drive engagement within the church’s broader discipleship pathway, the “Covenant Wheel.”
- Team Leadership and Collaboration: Assess staffing needs and create a plan for leading a team of communication and creative staff, contractors, and volunteers, providing direction, support, and strategic vision. Work closely with the Worship Pastor, ministry leaders, and the service planning team to ensure alignment and collaboration on messaging and ministry priorities.
- Brand and Messaging Consistency: Develop and maintain a style guide and vocabulary guide to ensure consistent communication across all platforms, particularly in a multi-campus setting. Position Christ Covenant as “One Church in Multiple Locations,” fostering a sense of unity.
- Content Creation and Oversight: Oversee the creation and distribution of all digital, print, and video content, ensuring aligned messaging and a unified brand message. Partner with the Creative Director and Filmmaker to enhance the quality and effectiveness of content, integrating video storytelling to engage both in-person and online audiences. Mobilize creative resources to bring to life the stories within the church community for the benefit of those inside and outside the church.
- Project Management, Budget Oversight, and Execution: Coordinate communications across church events and ministries, prioritizing resources toward key initiatives and planning within timeframes that allow for the most effective implementation and maximum impact. Oversee the communications budget, ensuring that spending aligns with church communication priorities and that resources are allocated effectively to support strategic goals.
- Evaluation and Improvement: Establish metrics to measure communication impact, with a focus on engagement and effectiveness rather than simple reach. Provide feedback to senior and ministry leaders on communication initiatives, ensuring continual improvement and alignment with the church’s mission.
Key Qualifications
- Experience and Expertise: Bachelor’s degree and 5 to 10 years experience in Communications, Marketing, or a related field. Minimum of two years of experience in strategic leadership with emphasis on communications and audience engagement. Leadership within a ministry or non-profit setting is ideal.
- Leadership and Collaboration: Proven track record of team leadership with the ability to work cross-functionally and build trust across different ministries. High emotional intelligence with an ability to navigate complex organizational dynamics.
- Creativity and Innovation: Ability to leverage creative personnel, storytelling, video, and digital media to create a vibrant, cohesive brand presence. Familiarity with creative tools and a strong understanding of how creativity can drive communication strategy.
- Strategic Vision and Execution: A strategic thinker with strong project management skills who can balance high-level vision with the practicalities of execution. Ability to develop both short and long-term communication plans, setting priorities in alignment with church goals.
- Passion for the Local Church: A heart for ministry and a strong alignment with the theology and mission of Christ Covenant Church. Familiarity with theological language and commitment to a gospel-centered approach to communications.
