Position Description

The Children’s Director will be responsible for working with the Discipleship team to foster a culture of growth and community, implementing developmentally appropriate discipleship systems for children, and building a strong team of volunteers to support the ministry. The ideal candidate would be a strong recruiter, one who can facilitate a culture of connection between family ministry and the church, and a self-starter excited to build out the next era of Children’s Ministry at Westminster. Creativity, collaboration, and adaptability are integral for leading this fast-growing ministry area.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Select engaging and age-appropriate curriculum for children’s Sunday classes, programs, AWANA, and special events that focus on teaching foundational biblical principles and implementing Westminster’s discipleship vision.
  • Establish rotation of Sunday morning kids worship leaders and create a consistent culture of engaging worship.
  • Empower families with tools to have regular discipling interactions with their children.
  • Create and execute strategies for attracting and assimilating new families from the community to Westminster and the children’s ministry.
  • Build a strong team of volunteers to support the ministry, recruiting, training, and equipping them to serve effectively. Lead teams with vision-driven, clear communication.
  • Increase visibility and involvement of children and families into the broader life and worship of the church, including Sunday services and other all church events.

 

What a Strong Candidate Would Look Like:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience in children’s ministry.
  • Strong recruiting and leadership skills and the ability to build and manage a team of volunteers effectively.
  • 3-5 years experience developing and implementing discipleship programs for children, including curriculum development and volunteer management.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, and volunteers of all ages and backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of best practices in child safety and risk management.
