About This Organization

The mission of Calvary is simple: A safe place to find faith, friends, and your future. Lead Pastor Bob Reeves arrived at Calvary Assembly 25 years ago with less than twenty people in attendance. Through sustained growth year over year and through two major building expansion projects, Calvary continues to grow and is positioned to reach even more people with the Gospel in Rochester, NY. This truly is a vibrant and growing church that has always prioritized making Jesus’ name known above all else.

The church is in a healthy place. Consistent growth, healthy teams, and an engaged church. The staff at Calvary is young, dynamic, and passionate about Jesus and serving people. And they know how to have a good time! This is a team that enjoys being around one another. Ministry is happening at a high level in all of the church’s key areas: worship, kids, youth, young adults, groups, missions, and outreach. This is a family oriented faith community that truly embodies its core values: hospitality, excellence, spiritual sensitivity, and generosity.

Location

Rochester, New York is the third-most populous city in the state after New York City and Buffalo, with an estimated population of 205,695 in 2020. The city of Rochester forms the core of a much larger metropolitan area with a population of around 1 million people, across six counties. The church is ten minutes from the city.

Rochester and New York has amazing parks all throughout, including Letchworth State Park, called the “Grand Canyon of the East”. Even the suburb town of Chili where the church is located has 9 parks and a splash pad. Rochester is a mid-sized city, so you can get anywhere within twenty minutes. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t a lot of options. Rochester is known for its culture, in particular its musical culture. We’re home to the Eastman School of Music (considered to be one of the most prestigious conservatories in the world) and the Rochester International Jazz Festival.

There’s more to do outside of hearing or making great music. That includes a night out to the Rochester Red Wings baseball game, a day at the Strong Museum of Play, the Art Museum, the beach, or enjoying the Rochester Zoo. Rochester is highly educated as a densely populated college town. Rochester has great local school districts, making it a great place to raise a family. The city offers great food of every type (they’ve got recommendations!) and is a short drive to Niagara Falls, Buffalo, and Toronto, Canada.
