Berkley Chapel

Lead Pastor

Auburndale, Florida

About This Organization

Berkley Chapel is a vibrant, Spirit-led church in Auburndale, Florida, committed to helping people find and follow Jesus. Originally founded in 2006, Berkley has steadily grown into a healthy, outreach-driven community focused on authentic relationships, biblical teaching, and real discipleship. The staff culture is marked by humility, hunger, and joy, with a team that genuinely loves working together and values both excellence and grace. With strong elder support and a clear vision for strategic growth, Berkley Chapel is positioned for meaningful ministry impact across Polk County and beyond.

Position Description

Berkley Chapel is seeking a dynamic, spiritually mature Lead Pastor who is deeply committed to the authority of Scripture and skilled in expository (verse-by-verse) preaching. Serving as “first among equals” within the Elder team, the Lead Pastor will be the principal spiritual leader of the congregation, focusing primarily on discipleship, teaching, and pastoral care. While the Executive Pastor manages the day-to-day operations, the Lead Pastor provides overall spiritual oversight and partners closely with the Elders to lead the church in accordance with its doctrinal positions and governance guidelines. This is a unique opportunity to shepherd a healthy, mission-driven church poised for Spirit-led growth and deeper community impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver weekly expository sermons that provide clear, faithful, and practical teaching from the Bible.
  • Provide comprehensive pastoral care through counseling, spiritual guidance, worship leadership, and community engagement, fostering a culture of discipleship, accountability, and spiritual growth.
  • Lead a regular discipleship class outside of Sunday services—such as a Wednesday night gathering or small group—designed to deepen biblical understanding and cultivate authentic community.
  • Collaborate closely with the Elders to articulate, develop, and implement the church’s vision and mission, ensuring all ministries and initiatives align with the church’s bylaws and governance structure.
  • Mentor emerging leaders, support ministry teams, and actively engage with various ministries to model servant leadership and strengthen relationships across the church body.
  • Partner with the Executive Pastor to oversee operational and strategic functions, allowing the Lead Pastor to maintain primary focus on spiritual leadership and ministry development.
  • Uphold the church’s commitment to biblical authority and doctrinal integrity by adhering to the Statement of Faith, consistently teaching from Scripture, and modeling theological soundness and spiritual maturity.
  • Serve as an example of biblical character and leadership by meeting the pastoral qualifications outlined in 1 Timothy 3:2-7 and Titus 1:5-9, demonstrating humility, integrity, and a life marked by the Gospel.
