Beach Road has seen incredible growth over the last several years, adding over 200 new members in the last three years alone. Also, they’re experiencing record baptisms, and 80% of the nearly 600 members are actively serving. The church is debt-free, and its giving has exceeded budgeted expenses for the last seven years. This surplus in receipts has allowed the church to invest in a $5.5M campus expansion. It has also allowed them to increase mission efforts and develop a robust benevolence ministry that serves church members and the local community. This is an exciting season of ministry at Beach Road! All of this, and it sits just minutes from some of the most beautiful beaches in the country!
Beach Road Baptist Church is excited for the future as it pursues the mission to “Make and Mature Followers of Jesus Christ.” Their vision is to be a soul-winning, serving, and sending church guided by their values: Truth over trends, People over programs, Pursuit over passivity, Serving over sitting, Giving over getting, We over me, and Great over good. Beach Road began in the mid-1980s as a church plant from another local church. In 1989, it became self-supporting and has continued to grow over the years. They’ve had only four Lead Pastors in their 34-year history and underwent an effective revitalization in the early 2010s. Beach Road is a resilient body, overcoming several challenges in the church’s short history, including building damage and a 14-month displacement during Hurricane Florence, followed by another displacement due to the COVID pandemic within months of returning from the hurricane. Since returning to in-person services in late Spring 2020, the church has grown exponentially.
Beach Road sees musical worship as a vital aspect of the Sunday morning gathering and other special services. This multigenerational congregation embraces a blend of musical styles that leans toward modern expression while incorporating the historical songs of the church in fresh ways. Engaging the people in participative worship is of utmost importance, so they value approachable songs for their worshippers. The atmosphere here is casual and informal, and each weekend’s worship team includes acoustic and electric guitars, keys, bass, drums, and 2-3 vocalists. The worship ministry is healthy and made up of dedicated volunteers who love the Lord and lead well.
The Worship Pastor will have primary responsibility for leading the church in worship on Sunday mornings and in various other services and contexts. This person must be a capable vocalist with administrative and leadership abilities. The role requires the ability to build teams, shepherd people, and lead with confidence and vision.
