To lead and develop AEC Students (grades 7-12), provide oversight and resources toAEC Kids and young adult ministries, and pastor kids, teens, young adults, and familiesto become devoted followers of Jesus Christ.
Key Responsibilities:
Children and Family Ministry Oversight
- Develop, communicate, and implement a philosophy of youth ministry that is connected with and supportive of the ministries of AEC.
- Plan and lead appropriate weekly ministry gatherings and special events such as ministry trips, retreats, outreach activities, and short-term mission opportunities.
- Passionately teach God’s Word in both small group and large group settings, allowing the Holy Spirit to convict, correct, and equip students to know Jesus, to grow spiritually, and to live righteously.
- Develop Christ-honoring relationships that encourage all to feel welcomed and part of the AEC Students.
- Encourage and connect teens to discipleship and mentoring opportunities and relationships.
- Engage with teens in their life settings such as attendance at school events and home visitation.
- Provide appropriate pastoral care such as counseling and support for teens and their families.
- Communicate clearly and consistently with leaders, parents, and teens the Youth Ministry schedules, goals, and expectations.
- Develop ways to receive and gain input and evaluation from parents, leaders, and teens regarding different aspects of the Youth Ministry.
- Develop, implement, and regularly evaluate Ministry Procedures and Youth Protection Policies.
- Submit a yearly budget and operate within the approved budget.
- Work together with AEC Kids Director to establish a collaborative relationship between AEC Kids and AEC Students.
- Provide oversight, resources and strategic planning to AEC Kids ministry staff and volunteers.
- Work with the AEC Kids director to foster collaboration between AEC Kids and AEC Students.
Young Adult Ministry Oversight
- Provide oversight, resources and strategic planning for young adult ministry as needed.
- Work with the Lead Pastor and church staff to build a ministry bridge between youth group and adult ministries.
What a Strong Candidate Would Look Like:
- Born again relationship with Jesus Christ demonstrated by a life of obedience to the precepts of the Bible.
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree, with Biblical Studies included as part of the studies.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and relate to Junior and Senior High youth and
families, forming lasting relationships with youth.
- Previous youth ministry experience of 3 to 5 years is preferred.
- Communication skills, both oral and written.
- Organizational skills, including the ability to plan, recruit, delegate, evaluate, and follow through on details.
- Endorse and support the AEC Constitution, Statement of Faith, and Vision Statement.
- Team player, willing to integrate AEC Students into the overall life of AEC.
- Seeks excellence in every aspect of AEC Students.
- Willing and able to work a flexible schedule, including time away from the church leading ministry events such as a retreat.
