Mission:
- Alternatives Colorado cares for Denver-area women and men in pregnancy-related crisis and offers them a meaningful alternative to abortion. Following the example of Christian love, Alternatives Colorado seeks to meet their emotional, physical, and spiritual needs and enables and encourages them to choose life every day.
Vision:
- To be a primary life-affirming resource in the Denver area, providing a safe place for women and men to make informed decisions regarding unintended pregnancy and sexual health and to find healing following abortion loss.
Guiding Commitments:
- Honor the inherent worth and dignity of every human life, born and preborn.
- Serve women and men with Christian love, compassion, truth, and authentic support.
- Care for the whole person by addressing physical, emotional, mental, relational, and spiritual needs.
- Provide professional, medically responsible, life-affirming care while honoring privacy, confidentiality, and informed decisions.
The culture of Alternatives Colorado is rooted in a shared Christian calling and a deep commitment to women, men, and families facing pregnancy-related decisions. Staff members and volunteers bring compassion, professional expertise, and a genuine desire to care for the whole person. Across four locations, they serve with dignity, offering practical support and medically responsible care while remaining grounded in the organization’s life-affirming mission.
Alternatives Colorado is also a highly relational community. Many staff members, volunteers, donors, and partners have invested deeply in the ministry and carry valuable knowledge of its clients, programs, and history. Team members care about one another, pray for the ministry, and want their individual areas of expertise to contribute to a strong and unified organization.
Following a season of intentional assessment, Alternatives Colorado is moving forward with more clarity and renewed purpose. The organization is committed to strengthening trust, communication, and collaboration while preserving the compassion and conviction that have sustained its work for more than 40 years. The next Executive Director will join a gifted and resilient team that is ready for steady leadership, healthy development, and a hopeful next chapter.

Champion Alternatives Colorado Christian and life-affirming mission. Model spiritual maturity and ensure that the organization’s theological convictions are expressed consistently through leadership, organizational practices, client care, fundraising, partnerships, and public communication.
Organizational Leadership and Strategy
In partnership with the Board and leadership team, establish a focused strategic direction and translate it into achievable organizational priorities. Evaluate opportunities according to mission, client need, impact, financial sustainability, and organizational capacity.
Leadership, Culture, and Communication
Lead and develop the senior leadership team. Clarify responsibilities and decision-making authority, strengthen cross-departmental communication, address conflict appropriately, and create an environment of trust, accountability, and collaboration.
Fundraising and External Relationships
Serve as a primary ambassador and fundraiser for Alternatives Colorado. Personally cultivate important donors and partners while providing executive direction and support to the Development Director and development team.
Organizational Stewardship
Maintain accountability for the organization’s financial health, programs, people, compliance, and operations. Work through qualified leaders to ensure that effective systems, responsible budgets, appropriate controls, and high standards of care are maintained.
Board Partnership
Build a transparent and productive partnership with the Board. Provide timely information, reliable reporting, thoughtful recommendations, and early communication about significant decisions, challenges, or risks.
Alternatives Colorado is almost entirely donor supported, allowing its services to be offered without charge. Funding comes from a loyal base of individual donors, churches, foundations, businesses, community partners, recurring supporters, and fundraising events. This strong foundation creates opportunities to deepen major giving, expand institutional support, strengthen donor stewardship, and develop additional sustainable funding streams.
Development is an organization-wide responsibility supported by an engaged Board, leadership team, staff, and volunteers. As a visible representative of Alternatives Colorado, the Executive Director will build relationships with donors, churches, healthcare providers, foundations, businesses, and community organizations that can strengthen financial support, increase referrals, and expand the organization’s reach throughout the Denver area.
The successful candidate must enjoy fundraising, personally cultivate key relationships, strengthen the case for support, and equip others across Alternatives Colorado to participate appropriately in advancing the mission.
The strongest candidates will bring:
- A mature and active Christian faith and full alignment with Alternatives Colorado Statement of Faith, Statements of Principle, and commitment to the dignity of born and preborn life.
- At least 10 years of progressive professional experience, including approximately five years of meaningful senior or organizational leadership in areas or missions like healthcare, human services, or pregnancy centers.
- Experience leading leaders, managing organizational priorities, and carrying responsibility for budgets, operations, programs, fundraising, or enterprise strategy.
- Demonstrated experience cultivating donors, making meaningful asks, and stewarding external relationships.
- Evidence of building healthy teams, developing leaders, navigating conflict, protecting confidentiality, and leading through transition.
- Experience partnering effectively with a governing Board.
- The ability to communicate clearly and relationally with staff, volunteers, donors, pastors, clinicians, foundations, and community leaders.
- Respect for clinical expertise, client consent, professional boundaries, confidentiality, and medically responsible care.
- Active engagement or understanding of pro-life movement organizations or initiatives.
- A bachelor’s degree is required. A graduate degree is welcomed but not required.
Opportunity Ahead
Alternatives Colorado has already taken meaningful steps to understand its recent challenges, stabilize the organization, and prepare for healthy change. The next Executive Director will inherit an engaged Board, a gifted team, loyal donors, four established locations, and more than 40 years of credibility in the Denver community.
The mission is increasingly important in Colorado, where abortion is constitutionally protected, people travel from states with greater restrictions to obtain abortions, and a new state law will expand access to abortion medication on college campuses. Alternatives Colorado has an important opportunity to ensure that women and men across the Denver region encounter compassionate support, medically responsible care, and meaningful alternatives.
The next leader can help Alternatives Colorado grow the capacity and reach of its clinics, identify strategic partners, and strengthen relationships with churches, healthcare providers, colleges, community organizations, and supporters. This leader will also help mature fundraising, strengthen the organization’s voice, and position Alternatives Colorado to serve more women, men, and families throughout the region.
Challenges to Steward Well
Alternatives Colorado is emerging from a season of executive transition, organizational change, and staff turnover. The next Executive Director will need to rebuild trust, bring greater clarity to leadership and decision-making, and help four locations operate as one connected organization.
Staff members want to be trusted as specialists while receiving clear direction, healthy accountability, and consistent communication. The Board and Executive Director will also need to reestablish appropriate distinctions between governance and operations. Throughout this work, the leader must ensure that Alternatives Colorado Christian and life-affirming mission is expressed consistently through compassionate, medically responsible, and trauma-informed care.
Success in the first year will be measured by establishing a strong foundation for long-term health, not completing every organizational initiative. Meaningful progress will include:
- Earn Trust: Listen across the organization and demonstrate confidentiality, consistency, accessibility, and follow-through.
- Create Leadership Clarity: Clarify responsibilities, decision-making authority, accountability, and communication across all four locations.
- Strengthen the Leadership Team: Develop a cohesive team whose members are trusted as specialists and accountable for shared outcomes.
- Build a Healthy Board Partnership: Establish clear governance boundaries and a consistent rhythm of transparent communication and strategic discussion.
- Enhance Mission Advancement: Personally engage key donors, churches, healthcare providers, and community partners while establishing focused fundraising and relationship-building priorities.
- Assess Capacity and Opportunity: Evaluate clinic capacity, community needs, organizational resources, and potential strategic partnerships to identify responsible opportunities for growth.
