About This Organization

A faith-based organization founded by Alice and Sheryl Cooper – and friends, Solid Rock’s primary mission is to make an everlasting difference in the lives of teens by helping them meet the spiritual, economical, physical, and social needs of teens in the community by offering a safe, engaging environment during non-school hours.

Maintaining “a teen’s worst enemy is too much time on their hands,” Solid Rock provides the music, arts, vocational programs and fellowship that challenge teens to discover their passion through music, dance, art, video and sound production, self-expression, and creativity.

With thriving centers in Phoenix, Mesa, and Goodyear — and plans for continued statewide expansion — Solid Rock serves as a creative sanctuary where teens find purpose, build confidence, and develop their unique talents within a supportive community.

Location

Phoenix is a truly unique place to live. It’s unlike any other region in the country, with two primary seasons—hot, and really hot—and summers that can be a genuine adjustment for those relocating from cooler climates.

At the same time, Phoenix offers a compelling blend of culture, growth, and community. As the fifth-largest city in the U.S., it has all the amenities of a major metropolitan area, yet it can still feel like a small town in the best ways—rich with relational warmth, neighborhood pride, and a strong sense of connection. Yes, traffic behaves like a big city, but many are surprised by how quickly Phoenix begins to feel like home.

The region is also a true melting pot, welcoming people from across the country. A significant number of snowbirds—seasonal residents escaping colder states—spend winters here and return home for the summer, adding to a diverse and dynamic community rhythm.

Housing costs continue to reflect the area’s growth, with median home prices around $430K in the greater Phoenix area. Compared to other major cities, this can still be an attractive market for many families and professionals.

And beyond the stats, Phoenix offers:

  • Striking desert landscapes and mountain trails for year-round outdoor adventure
  • 300+ days of sunshine for those who thrive on light and warmth
  • A growing arts, music, and culinary scene
  • Quick getaways to Flagstaff, Sedona, and the Grand Canyon
