1C is a church experiencing incredible momentum. Over the past 8 years, they’ve nearly doubled in size and celebrated more than 800 baptisms. It is evident that God is moving in powerful ways. The foundation has been laid, and the future is wide open for even greater impact. We are located in Jacksonville, IL, roughly 25 minutes away from the capital city, Springfield.

We are a non-denominational Christian church with roots in the Restoration Movement. That means we aim to focus on the essentials of the faith and avoid getting hung up on non-salvation issues. We believe the Bible is the authority for life and faith, Jesus is the Son of God, salvation comes through Him alone, and the church exists to reach the lost and make disciples.

We practice believer’s baptism by immersion and teach that baptism and faith go hand in hand as part of someone’s response to the gospel. While we leave space for questions and wrestling, especially for those new to faith, we do want staff to be unified on foundational theology and supportive of the church’s mission and leadership. You don’t have to have all the same background, but you do need to row in the same direction.
