|Encounter Church started as an idea collaboration between the Lead Pastor, Dirk vanEyk (a denominational outsider) and a group of denominational pastors to start a new expression of church to connect with a new
demographic of people. Encounter started as a dozen people in a Bible study in Dirk’s living room before launching public services at a local school on 10.10.10 with around 75 committed people. In 2013 they purchased the current building. In 2016 they renovated significantly. In 2017 they went to two worship times.Encounter Church resides in the beautiful southeast section of Grand Rapids, Michigan. They have a vision to continue to grow and multiply across the greater Grand Rapids area, while also maximizing the utility of their current 40,000 SF campus as well as multiple other ministry opportunities in the surrounding area. They are a team who loves one another and loves doing ministry together, striving to live out the values of Encounter at every level.
|Position Description *|
The Executive Pastor (XP) is responsible for the overall leadership and direction of church staff, leading all functional areas in the accomplishment of the church’s mission. This includes staff oversight of worship, connections, small groups, kids, youth, outreach, pastoral care, ministry areas as well as strategic planning, finance, administration, human resources, and operations.
