Africa Renewal Ministries

Director of Marketing

Remote

Africa Renewal Ministries (ARM) is seeking a Christ-centered, highly autonomous Director of Marketing to serve as the primary marketing strategist and creative writer for the U.S. office. Partnering directly with executive leadership, this hands-on “player-coach” will align marketing efforts with ARM’s core framework of Embracing Children, Equipping Leaders, and Empowering Communities. The primary focus involves translating Ugandan field impact into compelling direct-response narratives that drive donor engagement across email, web, and print platforms. Operating with significant operational latitude, this leader will shift the organization from a reactive model into a proactive campaign ecosystem built around a rolling 60-to-90-day master content calendar. Additionally, the Director will manage the creative pipeline and own project outcomes while collaborating closely with ARM’s Uganda-based creative team.

Why We Love This Opportunity

After partnering with Africa Renewal Ministries on two other vital leadership positions, we are incredibly honored to be invited back for our third search together. That kind of continued partnership speaks volumes, not just about the steady clarity of ARM’s direction, but about the deep relational trust and shared kingdom values that shape this ministry.

What makes this opportunity especially compelling is the chance to step into a ministry that is already moving fast and help build it into something even greater. Deeply rooted in Uganda, ARM is doing beautifully holistic, gospel-centered work that is genuinely changing communities. As the Director of Marketing, you aren’t just managing from a distance; you get to hold the creative pen and the strategic steering wheel simultaneously, bridging an energetic U.S. team with a remarkably talented field team in Uganda to turn redemptive field impact into powerful, direct-response storytelling.

A great match for this position would be:

  • Strategic Storyteller & Copywriter: A practitioner who commands the full content lifecycle, expertly crafting donor-centric narratives that translate complex field data into compelling calls to action across print, email, and digital mediums.
  • Comprehensive Marketing Strategy Leader: A results-driven strategist with the proven ability to implement a rolling 60-to-90-day master content calendar, successfully shifting the organization from a reactive, gap-filling model to a proactive campaign ecosystem.
  • Multi-Channel Platform Execution Specialist: A technical self-starter with strong working knowledge across email marketing, social media, web presence, and direct mail, possessing the operational baseline to confidently own digital execution within enterprise content management systems.
  • Cross-Cultural & Collaborative Leader: A high-EQ relationship builder who listens deeply, connects across indirect communication styles, and infers subtle cultural nuances with the Uganda team while partnering seamlessly across internal departments.
  • Autonomous & Strategically Resourceful Driver: A proactive builder who thrives with high creative freedom, taking full ownership of the pipeline by utilizing outside contractors to breach immediate technical gaps while holding the long-term vision to architect and expand a dedicated marketing team.

About This Organization

Africa Renewal Ministries (ARM) exists to renew Africa through the gospel of Jesus Christ and the local church by embracing children, equipping leaders, and empowering communities. Founded in 1990 by Pastor Peter Kasirivu through Gaba Community Church in Uganda, ARM was birthed in response to the deep spiritual and physical needs of his local community. What began as a local initiative has grown into a gospel-centered movement impacting more than 30 communities across Uganda through seven affiliated ministries.

Today, ARM serves vulnerable children, families, and communities across Uganda alongside a passionate network of donors, partners, and volunteers – providing holistic care, education, healthcare, and leadership development. ARM has a relational network known as the Fellowship of Community Churches that includes over 1,200 churches, 750 of which were planted directly through ARM in a movement running five generations deep. Through these local churches and initiatives like Africa Renewal University, ARM has trained more than 2,700 leaders, provided holistic care and discipleship to over 15,000 children, and empowered young adults to step into their callings with clarity and purpose.

This is a ministry marked by redemption and resilience. With Christ-like leadership at its core, Africa Renewal is empowering individuals, renewing communities, and advancing the gospel across Uganda and beyond. ARM’s Statement of Faith can be found at https://africarenewal.org/about-us.

Location

Africa Renewal Ministries is a Uganda-based ministry, with all programs taking place on the ground. The U.S. team, headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, exists to support that work through donor development, storytelling, and strategic partnerships. This role is a remote opportunity with required quarterly travel to San Antonio. The organization would also welcome a leader within driving distance of San Antonio or open to relocating to the area, in which case the position would operate on their standard local hybrid schedule of typically three days per week in-office.

This role involves approximately 15-20% travel. The Director is expected to spend one full week each quarter on-site at the headquarters in San Antonio, serving as a mandatory team rhythm to ensure full operational alignment. An annual 7–10 day trip to Uganda is also expected to capture field content, build deep cross-cultural relationships and experience ARM’s mission in action.
