Mission:
Our enduring mission is to gather multi-generational communities of disciples who worship, grow and serve AND, go into all the world as witnesses of the life-changing love of Jesus.
Values:
- Authentic Worship: We believe that exalting and enjoying God is life’s great purpose and pleasure.
- Intentional Growth: We believe that becoming like Jesus is an adventure worth every effort.
- Generous Service: We believe that giving our gifts to help others is how we imitate God.
- Attractive Witness: We believe that living to draw others to Christ is our personal daily mission.
- Genuine Community: We believe that doing life together is how we live the Christian journey.
- Life-Changing Love: We believe that loving people extravagantly is the power and priority of God.
- Discipleship Vision: Our discipleship vision is designed to form people with a particular set of core convictions, commitments and character traits.
- We are a non-denominational, independent church with roots in the evangelical and reformed traditions.
- We affirm all the tenets of the Apostles’ and Nicene Creeds and on finer points of doctrine, follow the Augustinian maxim: Unity in the essentials. Liberality in the non-essentials. Charity in all things.
- Our essential theological statements are here. ChristChurch.us/beliefs
- We baptize children of believers toward the day when they will confirm their parents’ promises with their own confession. We also baptize students and adults, making a personal confession of faith.
- We welcome at the table of communion all who depend upon the grace of God for their salvation and seek to follow Christ as Lord.
- We hold to a traditional understanding of sexuality, seeking to be both biblically faithful and radically loving.
- We believe in the full and equal gifting of men and women for all church leadership offices.
- In the midst of a polarized and politicized society, Christ Church strives to pursue the vision of Jesus and the values of the kingdom of God and avoid captivity to extreme ideologies, political organizations, and secular social movements.
We are…
- A community of imperfect people seeking to be biblically faithful and radically loving.
- Deeply dedicated to God’s Word, ministry excellence, practical relevance and global influence.
- Passionate about families and kids.
- Steadfast in employing the equal leadership capacity of both men and women.
- Committed to the leadership of our Trustees and Elders.
- Blessed by a thoughtful and generous congregation.
2 Expressions of Worship:
- Contemporary: Conversational-style preaching with modern music, art and liturgy in a relaxed atmosphere
- Classic: Timeless liturgy and preaching, worship and music led by a choir and organist.
The Contemporary Worship Pastor will report directly to the Executive Director of Worship Arts and Communications, and will work closely with a worship team that currently includes a Music and Resourcing Director, staff musicians, worship leaders, and a large community of worship vocalists — both casual staff and volunteers. Collaboration with the broader staff, including production, pastoral, and ministry teams, is central to how Christ Church operates.
The staff at Christ Church is guided by a shared set of values:
- Abide In Christ:We lead from who we are in Jesus, not just what we do for Him.
- With a Good Spirit: We choose joy, humility, and generosity in how we show up for one another.
- All About the Team: We believe ministry is always a shared effort, never a solo act.
- Best for Christ Church: We seek the good of the whole body over personal preference.
- Accountability Is a Gift | We invite truth, correction, and care because growth requires honesty.
- Lead with Prayer: We listen for God’s voice before we move with our own.
- Live the Great Commission: Everything we do is shaped by Jesus’ call to make disciples.
- We Go First: We model the way — serving, sacrificing, and stepping out in faith.
- Provide visionary leadership for the Contemporary worship ministry, including worship staff, volunteer musicians, and congregation.
- Serve as the primary worship leader for Contemporary services, ensuring every experience is spiritually and musically prepared and executed with excellence.
- Lead a collaborative process to craft, design, and execute core worship programming, including flow, transitions, ministry moments, and creative elements, managing plans through Planning Center.
- Collaborate, create, and execute worship that connects with multiple generations and values diversity of age, gender, race, and ethnicity.
- Use the arts to tell the story of Jesus in a creative and compelling way, creating space for people to encounter the life-changing message of Jesus at their own pace.
- Recruit, build, train, shepherd, and pastor musicians who love God, desire to serve with excellence, and are growing as wholehearted followers of Jesus.
- Provide intentional leadership toward the spiritual, musical, professional, and leadership development of both staff and volunteers.
- Collaborate with worship leaders, service coordinators, the technical director, hosts, pastors, and ministry partners to deliver cohesive and excellent worship experiences.
- Partner with the Production team and other ministries to support the overall worship ministry of Christ Church.
- Provide leadership for staff meetings, funerals, and special events, and manage budgets and expenses for the Contemporary worship ministry.
- 3-5 years or more of experience leading weekly worship in a mid-to-large church with multiple services, bands, and volunteers
- Proficiency on a rhythm instrument with strong vocal leadership, including clean tone, solid range, and an engaging presence
- Demonstrated experience recruiting, building, and developing volunteer teams and working with casual and contract staff
- Strong creative and ideation skills, with the ability to arrange music and a working knowledge of Planning Center
- Deep understanding of Scripture with the theological savvy to curate a song book that is both historically grounded and musically relevant
- Proven ability to lead and communicate in large settings, both on and off the platform
- A music degree or equivalent training, with significant experience in the supervision and development of staff and volunteers
- A mature, growing follower of Jesus who models the spiritual formation they seek to cultivate in others
- Deepen the Worship Culture: Christ Church has a high value of worship, and the next Contemporary Worship Pastor will continue moving the experience into something that actively forms the people in the room. A leader who can cultivate real relationships within the worship community and draw people into more intentional, participatory encounters with God week after week will thrive in this role.
- Build and Multiply a Volunteer Team: Building a deep, sustainable team of musicians is a central challenge and opportunity for this role. The right leader can attract people to this ministry, invest in them over time, and create a team where they experience real belonging.
- Lead Into a Pivotal Season: Christ Church is in a moment of real momentum, and worship is at the center of where they want to go. With new pastoral leadership in place and a congregation that is hungry and growing, there is a genuine opportunity to help worship become something more integrated and essential to the life of the church, not just a component of the service but something that shapes the whole culture.
