Albuquerque,

Foothills Fellowship is looking for the next lead pastor who is a strong biblical teacher who is willing to creatively lead the church in implementing the ministry plan and fulfill our vision and values.

Why We Love This Opportunity

I love this opportunity because it’s a great chance for someone to lead at a higher level while doing so at a church that has a heart for the city and a desire to grow the Kingdom of God. This is the perfect opportunity for someone who wants to be a lead pastor to experience leadership, outreach and preaching in a city that is diverse and growing.

A great match for this position would be:

  • Biblical preaching/teaching: Someone who can accurately present the Word of God in a timely, applicable way.
  • Cultural and Relational Competency: Someone who can connect relationally with people from varied backgrounds.
  • Entrepreneurial Mindset: Someone who has the ability to create and start things. Who sees the opportunities and knows how to achieve the opportunities.
  • People Developer: Someone who can recruit, develop and deploy staff and volunteers.
  • Loving Community: Someone who knows how to communicate with grace and truth.

About This Organization

Planted in the mid-70’s in the fast-growing northeast heights of Albuquerque, Foothills began as Conservative Baptist church but later dropped its denominational affiliation. It has had a series of long-serving pastors who have emphasized Christian discipleship, missions, and family.

The present congregation is eager to reach out to the immediately surrounding community and invite people to join us in expanding God’s kingdom. The congregation has put considerable effort into creating a new vision and plan for the church to be relevant in touching our neighbors with the Gospel of Christ.

Location

Foothills Fellowship recently determined the demographics of the community within a ten-minute drive of the church building.  That study revealed that the life of our surrounding community is comparable to a typical suburb of a large southwestern city.  The population is mostly white, but 27% is Hispanic.  The median annual household income varies over a wide range: 8% of the households have an annual income less than $15,000, 10% of the households have an income above $200,000, and the median is $78,000. Regarding age groups, they are evenly distributed from 18 to 84 years of age.

Given the demographics, the steady climate, and the nearby national forests and the city’s open areas, the life of the community tends to be more outgoing and outdoorsy than are most suburbs.  The community is comfortable with its diverse nature; the different ethnicities and age-groups get along well.
