Position Description

The Senior Pastor of North Avenue Presbyterian Church will serve as a visionary, collaborative, and Christ-centered leader who equips the congregation to follow Jesus in the city and the world. Rooted in Scripture and led by the Spirit, the Senior Pastor will preach the gospel with clarity and depth, nurture spiritual formation, and embody pastoral care in life’s joys and struggles. This role provides spiritual and strategic leadership to a diverse and multigenerational congregation that values radical hospitality, embraces complexity, and seeks to be a faithful presence in Midtown Atlanta. The Senior Pastor will guide the church in discerning and pursuing God’s call to justice, healing, and reconciliation both locally and globally.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Our next pastor is a skilled preacher with deep knowledge of the Word and an experience of the world that shapes their intellectual rigor and curiosity.
  • Lead, empower, and shepherd the staff, with key staff reports including: Associate Pastor, Director of Ministry-Mission, Director of Finance and Administration, Director of Contemporary Music & Technology, Director of Choral Music, and an Administrative Assistant
  • Serve as the primary pastor leader for key committees/teams: Stewardship/Generosity, Finance, Endowment, Human Resources, and Worship.
  • Inspire and shepherd our members and help them find their own outlet of ministry
  • Build strong relationships inside and outside our congregation, including maintaining community relationships and representing the congregation with the Presbytery
  • Serve as a compassionate, relational, and collaborative leader
  • Connect and collaborate in our urban neighborhood with our community partners
